Provided are a resin composition for a tackifier or an adhesive and a preparation method thereof. Provided is a resin composition for a tackifier or an adhesive, which includes a hydrogenated petroleum resin with a controlled hydrogenation rate to have excellent compatibility with polyolefin and to exhibit high transparency while having improved quality including adhesive property.
PREPARATION METHOD OF HYDROGENATED PETROLEUM RESIN
The invention relates to a method for preparing hydrogenated petroleum resin. More specifically, the invention relates to a method for preparing hydrogenated petroleum resin having aromaticity of 10% or more and exhibiting excellent color and thermal stability, through a hydrogenation reaction in a slurry reactor, using a selective hydrogenation catalyst having excellent selectivity to olefinic double bonds in petroleum resin.

A UV-crosslinkable HMPSA composition comprises 10-24% by weight of a block copolymer comprising a styrenic block and a polybutadiene block comprising at least 25% by weight of the 1,2-vinyl unit; 43-65% by weight of a tackifying resin obtained by polymerization, then complete or partial hydrogenation of a C9 fraction, having a softening point of 80-150° C.; 10-25% by weight of a petroleum-derived hydrocarbon oil; and an appropriate amount of a photoinitiator (D). A self-adhesive article comprises a carrier layer (b) coated with a self-adhesive layer (a) comprising the HMPSA composition in the crosslinked state.
HMPSA CROSSLINKABLE UNDER UV IRRADIATION
A UV-crosslinkable HMPSA composition comprises 10-24% by weight of a block copolymer comprising a styrenic block and a polybutadiene block comprising at least 25% by weight of the 1,2-vinyl unit; 43-65% by weight of a tackifying resin obtained by polymerization, then complete or partial hydrogenation of a C9 fraction, having a softening point of 80-150° C.; 10-25% by weight of a petroleum-derived hydrocarbon oil; and an appropriate amount of a photoinitiator (D). A self-adhesive article comprises a carrier layer (b) coated with a self-adhesive layer (a) comprising the HMPSA composition in the crosslinked state.
HOT MELT ADHESIVE COMPOSITION
A hot melt adhesive composition contains a 1-butene homopolymer, an ethylene-based polymer having a melting point of lower than 80° C., an α-olefin copolymer having a melting point 80° C. or higher, a tackifying resin, wax, and a liquid softener, in which the ethylene-based polymer includes at least one type of copolymer selected from the group consisting of an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.
HOT MELT ADHESIVE COMPOSITION
A hot melt adhesive composition contains a 1-butene homopolymer, an ethylene-based polymer having a melting point of lower than 80° C., an α-olefin copolymer having a melting point 80° C. or higher, a tackifying resin, wax, and a liquid softener, in which the ethylene-based polymer includes at least one type of copolymer selected from the group consisting of an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.
Hydrocarbon Resin and Method for Production Thereof
The invention relates to a method for producing a hydrocarbon resin, in which method a monomer mixture which contains an aromatic component containing indene and/or C.sub.1-4 alkylindene and a cyclic diolefin component containing a cyclic diolefin compound is polymerized by heating to a polymerization temperature of at least 180° C. to obtain a product stream containing hydrocarbon resin, wherein oligomers which contain units originating from the cyclic diolefin compound and/or units originating from the aromatic component are separated from the product stream and returned to the monomer mixture, and wherein the hydrocarbon resin is heated in an annealing step to a temperature of 150° C. to 300° C. for a period of 15 minutes to 240 hours. The invention also relates to a hydrocarbon resin that is obtainable by the method, to a hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin, and to the use of the hydrocarbon resin and the hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin.
Hydrocarbon Resin and Method for Production Thereof

A hot melt adhesive for use on porous substrates, wherein the hot melt adhesive has about 10% to about 70% by weight of a polypropylene homopolymer having a DSC melting point of less than 100° C.; about 10% to about 60% of a first tackifying resin having a Ring & Ball Softening Point of about 95° C. to about 140° C.; about 0% to about 65% of a second tackifying resin that is different than the first tackifying resin; about 5% to about 50% of a plasticizer; about 1% to about 40% by weight of a secondary polymer which is either a semi crystalline polymer or wax with an enthalpy of fusion of greater than 30 Joules/gram; about 0.1% to about 5% of a stabilizer or antioxidant; wherein the components total 100% by weight of the composition, and the viscosity of the composition is equal to or less than about 20,000 centipoise (cP) at 163° C. (325° F.).

(325° F.).
