FLAME-RETARDANT PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVES
Pressure sensitive adhesives and tapes having flame-retardant properties include a substrate layer and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on the substrate layer. The pressure sensitive adhesive is a UV-cured composition of a curable composition. The curable composition includes a polymerizable (meth)acrylate-based mixture, a polymerizable aromatic (meth)acrylate oligomer, a liquid flame retarding agent, and at least one UV initiator. The UV-cured composition is an optically clear pressure sensitive adhesive with flame retarding properties.
LONG TERM REMOVABLE FILMS
Film constructions are disclosed that remove well from both new and aged substrates, initially and over the long term, without compromising the other possible required properties of film construction, including but not limited to, digital printability, cold temperature adhesion, durability, and conformability. Methods of protecting a surface are also disclosed.
TEMPORARY VEHICLE PROTECTION FILM WRAP WITH REVERSE ADHESIVE
The adhesive faces outwardly in a temporary vehicle wrapping film, dramatically improving the process of application. The film may be a durable 3-mil, puncture-resistant plastic film with a UV inhibitor, and the adhesive may be a reduced-tack or “low-tack” adhesive. The base layer and the adhesive are preferably transparent or translucent, and the width of the roll may be in the range of 1 to several feet. A portion of the outwardly facing adhesive is applied to a surface to be protected, enabling the film to be unrolled with the outwardly facing adhesive surface at all times being applied to the surface. The film is cut when the surface to be protected is sufficiently covered. In contrast to existing solutions, the film may be applied by a single user, with one hand grasping one end of the roll and the other hand grasping the other end of the roll.
Protective film
A protective film 10 of the present invention includes a base material layer and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer, and is used by being attached to a resin substrate 21 at the time of performing heat bending on the resin substrate 21. The pressure sensitive adhesive layer contains a polyolefin having a melting point of lower than 125° C. The base material layer has a first layer which contains a polyolefin having a melting point of 150° C. or higher, and a second layer which contains an adhesive resin. In a case of heating the protective film 100 having such a configuration, in a state of being interposed between two attaching substrates which are formed of polycarbonate, at 145° C. for 30 minutes, peeling off one attaching substrate on the side of the pressure sensitive adhesive layer at 25° C., and then viewing a surface of the one attaching substrate in a plan view, a residual ratio of an area where the pressure sensitive adhesive layer remains is 5% or less.
Adhesive Composition for Decorative Film
One embodiment of the present invention relates to an adhesive composition for a decorative film, a decorative film, or a decorative molded body. The adhesive composition for a decorative film contains a (meth)acrylic polymer (A) that satisfies (I) and (II) below, has a weight-average molecular weight of 300,000 or less as measured by gel permeation chromatography, and has a glass transition temperature of higher than 0° C. and lower than 50° C. as determined from a peak temperature of tan δ measured by dynamic mechanical analysis. Relative to a total of 100 mass % of the (meth)acrylic polymer (A) and a (meth)acrylic polymer (Ah) having a glass transition temperature of 50° C. or higher, a percentage content of the (meth)acrylic polymer (Ah) is less than 25 mass %. (I) The (meth)acrylic polymer (A) is a polymer of a monomer component that contains 19 mass % or more of a monomer (a1) that does not have a crosslinkable functional group. (II) A homopolymer of the monomer (a1) has a glass transition temperature of 0° C. or higher.
TEMPORARY MASKING FILM DRAPE WITH REVERSE ADHESIVE
A temporary surface masking film is provided with an adhesive tape that faces outwardly, thereby dramatically improving the process of application. At least the film may be transparent or translucent and the film may be accordion-folded onto the roll. The width of the film may be in the range of 1 to 12 feet. The roll may be retained in a plastic carrier, with a serrated edge for cutting the film. The roll may be coupled to an axial handle, and the roll and handle are provided in a plastic carrier. A method includes adhering a portion of the outwardly facing adhesive tape to a surface to be protected. The film is then unrolled such that it unfolds, hangs down and clings to the surface. The film may then be cut when the surface to be protected is sufficiently covered. Conveniently, the inventive film may be applied by a single user.
Multilayer Coating for Covering Vehicle Body Parts
In a first aspect, the present invention concerns a multilayer coating for covering vehicle body parts, comprising a polymeric facestock layer (3) which is located between a polymeric top coat layer 4 and a polymeric adhesive layer (2), the top coat layer (4) comprising at least partially cross-linked polyurethane, wherein the at least partially cross-linked polyurethane is the reaction product of a composition comprising a first part and a second part, wherein: the first part comprises between 0.1 and 99.9 wt. % of solvent- or waterborne thermally curable polyurethane precursor material, as based on the total weight of said composition; and
the second part comprises between 0.1 and 99.9 wt. % of UV-curable polyurethane precursor material, as based on the total weight of said composition.
The invention further pertains to a method for manufacturing a multilayer coating for covering vehicle body parts.
PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPE FOR PROTECTION OF COATED GLASS AND RELATED METHODS AND USES
The disclosure relates to pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes for temporary protection of coated glass substrates with large dimensions, especially of Low-E coated glass, which enable improved storability and weatherability properties and facilitate their handling and removal. The PSA tapes include a carrier layer and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer includes one or more acrylic block copolymers, and/or wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has an initial adhesion strength of 50 to 300 cN/20 mm, and an adhesion strength of 50 to 400 cN/20 mm 7 days after application. Also described are manufacturing methods of said pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, their use and methods of producing glass units.
ADHESIVE FILM AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
The present invention provides an adhesive film hardly suffering from fisheyes and having excellent mechanical strength and heat resistance as well as good adhesion properties, which can be suitably used as various surface protective films, etc. The present invention relates to an adhesive film comprising a polyester film and an adhesive layer formed on at least one surface of the polyester film, in which the adhesive layer comprises a (meth)acrylic resin comprising a (meth)acrylate unit that comprises an alkyl group having not less than 4 carbon atoms at an ester end thereof, a content of the (meth)acrylate unit in the (meth)acrylic resin being not less than 20% by weight; and an adhesion strength to a polymethyl methacrylate plate of the adhesive layer is not less than 1 mN/cm.
