PRE-FORMED ADHESIVE FILM AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME
20230039559 · 2023-02-09 ·

A method for pre-forming adhesive films before applying such films to curved and/or irregular shapes inside an aircraft. Adhesive film blanks with antimicrobial properties are pre-formed using a contoured manufacturing mold. The adhesive film blank has been created to match the shape of the airline interior component to which such adhesive film will be applied. The adhesive film blank is pre-formed by placing it in the contoured manufacturing mold, applying heat for a specified time and at a specified pressure. After being pre-formed in the manufacturing mold, the pre-formed adhesive film is applied to a specific interior component. Commercial aircraft interior components may include, but are not limited to, items such as overhead stowage bins, sidewall panels, ceiling panels, monuments, lavatories, closets, handles, tray tables, galley surfaces, and any other appropriate high touch interior surfaces that benefit from application of a pre-formed adhesive film.

The present invention relates to an adhesive tape having a layer structure in which an adhesive layer, a first film layer (I), a base material layer, and a second film layer (II) are arranged in this order, in which the base material layer satisfies a predetermined requirement that a ratio (a)/(b) of a thickness (a) to a thickness (b) is not less than 1.7 or not more than 0.6 in which the thickness (a) is a thickness from the first film layer (I)-side of the base material layer to the outer surface of the adhesive layer and the thickness (b) is a thickness from the second film layer (II)-side surface of the base material layer to the outer surface of the second film layer (II), and at least one layer constituting the layer structure contains a flame retardant (C).

MICROCAPSULES FOR USE WITH POLYURETHANE AND EPOXY ADHESIVES

A microcapsule for use with an underwater adhesive includes a shell including nanoclay platelets and a polyurea product of an interfacial polymerization of a polyamine and an aromatic polyisocyanate. The microcapsule further includes a core composition encapsulated by the shell. The core composition includes a base catalyst for formation of a polyurethane, a polyol, and a hydrophilic solvent.

METHODS OF FORMING UNCURED SEALANT ASSEMBLIES AND USING SUCH ASSEMBLIES FOR SEALING AND BONDING PARTS
20220325142 · 2022-10-13 · ·

Described herein are methods of forming uncured sealant assemblies and also methods of forming seals between various parts using such assemblies. In some examples, an uncured sealant assembly comprises two protective layers and an uncured sealant layer, disposed in between. The uncured sealant assembly is stored and provided at a cure-inhibiting temperature, selected to minimize the curing rate of the uncured sealant layer. The size and the shape of the uncured sealant layer are specifically selected to ensure the complete coverage of the faying surfaces, filling of all gaps and voids between the faying surfaces, and controlling the shape and size of uncured sealant squeeze out between the faying surfaces. In some examples, the size and shape of the uncured sealant layer maybe be specifically selected to have no uncured sealant squeeze out between parts.

The present invention relates to a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition including a compound having a substituent represented by the general formula (1) described in the specification, in which when each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 in the substituent represented by the general formula (1) represents a hydrogen atom, a distance between an oxygen atom of —OR.sup.1 and an oxygen atom of —OR.sup.2 is 1.31 Å or more and 4.70 Å or less, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed of the pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet comprising the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.

SELF-CLEANING FABRIC COVERS FOR AIRCRAFT FIXTURES

Described are self-cleaning covers for attaching to passenger seats. Embodiments of self-cleaning covers can include an antimicrobial fabric having at least one antimicrobial fiber interwoven with a second fiber, as well as an attachment element connected with the antimicrobial fabric for removably affixing the cover to the seat. The antimicrobial fabric and the attachment element can be shaped to partially enclose and to removably attach the self-cleaning cover to at least a portion of the passenger seat, such as a seat cushion, armrest, or headrest.

COATING MATERIAL AND LAMINATE

The present invention relates to a coating material containing a resin component and at least one kind of oil component P, in which the oil component P can exude out from a cured or dried coating film layer to which the coating material has been applied when a temperature drops to a predetermined value or less, a wetting parameter is 0.5 (J/cm.sup.3).sup.1/2 or less, and a gel fraction of the coating film layer is 30% or more.

Curable compositions and related methods

Provided is a curable composition containing a reactive mixture of components including an polyethersulfone having a chemical group reactive with an epoxide, a cycloaliphatic polyepoxide resin, a polyepoxide having a functionality greater than two, a liquid diepoxide resin, a first curative containing 9,9-bis(aminophenyl)fluorene or a derivative therefrom and having a curing onset temperature of from 150° C. to 200° C. The components can further comprise a second curative having a curing onset temperature of from 60° C. to 180° C. When thermally curing this composition, the second epoxy curative starts to cure before the first epoxy curative, thereby inhibiting vertical flow of the adhesive during the curing process.
