FLOW CELL SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Systems and methods for flow cells are provided. Flow cells may encompass a range of fluidic devices for various applications ranging from microfluidic systems to bulk phase flow systems. Flow cells may comprise one or more components for passive or active fluid transfer. Descriptions are provided for advantageous methods of fabricating flow cells for particular applications such as biological assays. Provided is a composition, comprising a first substrate comprising a first covalently-bound ligand; and a second substrate comprising a second covalently-bound ligand; wherein the first covalently-bound ligand and the second covalently-bound ligand are covalently bonded to form a heterocyclic compound. Also provided is a flow cell device, comprising: a first substrate comprising a microfabricated surface; and a second substrate comprising a non-patterned surface; wherein the first substrate is joined to the second substrate to form an enclosure; and wherein the microfabricated surface comprises at least one chamber, wherein the chamber comprises a microarray of active sites with specific functionalization separated by an optically resolvable distance and a functionalized surface comprising a passivating group or a blocking group; and wherein each active site of the microarray of active sites comprises a capture agent.

Cycloolefin polymer bonding method
A cycloolefin polymer (COP) bonding method wherein a first material that is COP and a second material that is COP or glass are bonded. The method includes: a step of exposing at least a bonding surface of the first material to H.sub.2O plasma; and a step of mating the bonding surface of the first material and a bonding surface of the second material. According to the method, the cycloolefin polymer (COP) can be bonded to a target material without applying high pressure or high temperature, and without affecting the optical properties.
SEALING METHOD
An object of the present invention is to provide a sealing method using a cover film where a problem of odor is not likely to occur and quick drying properties and sealability are high.
The sealing method according to the present invention is a sealing method that is performed using at least a cover film and a sealing solvent, the cover film including a polymer layer provided on a transparent support, in which the sealing solvent is a solvent including at least one kind selected from the group consisting of an ester, an alcohol, a ketone, an ether, and an aromatic hydrocarbon, in a case where the sealing solvent is an ester, an alcohol, a ketone, or an ether, a boiling point of the sealing solvent is 80° C. to 170° C., and in a case where the sealing solvent is an aromatic hydrocarbon, a boiling point of the sealing solvent is 150° C. to 170° C.

Hybrid Lens and Method for Manufacturing Hybrid Lens
As a first aspect, provided is a hybrid lens for which peeling and shifting of a glass and a resin lens do not easily occur, and for which floating of an adhesive layer and peeling between the glass and resin lens do not easily occur even when the hybrid lens is exposed to a high temperature environment. As a second aspect, provided is an easily produced hybrid lens in which a glass and a resin lens are laminated, and in which the resin lens and a light-shielding portion are laminated with good precision.
The hybrid lenses 11 and 12 each include a glass substrate 3, a resin lens 2, and an adhesive layer 4 provided between the glass substrate 3 and the resin lens 2. In the hybrid lens 11, the glass transition temperature of the resin lens 2 is higher than the glass transition temperature of the adhesive layer 4, and the difference between the glass transition temperature of the resin lens 2 and the glass transition temperature of the adhesive layer 4 is from 97 to 150° C. The hybrid lens 12 further includes a metal compound layer 52 provided between the glass substrate 3 and the resin lens 2.

Adhering Two Substrates Using Latent-Reactive Adhesive Films
The invention relates to a method for adhering two substrates, namely a first substrate A and a second substrate B, to each other using a latent-reactive adhesive film with at least one latent-reactive adhesive film layer which has a thermoplastic component with a melting temperature T(melt), where 35° C.≦T(melt)≦90° C., said thermoplastic component containing functional groups that can react to isocyanate, and an isocyanate-containing component that is dispersed into the thermoplastic component in a particulate form and is blocked, microencapsulated, or substantially deactivated in the region of the particle surface. The particles have a start temperature T(start) of 40° C.≦T(start)≦120° C., wherein T(start)≧T(melt). A surface of the first substrate A is brought into contact with a first surface of the latent-reactive adhesive film, and a surface of the second substrate B is brought into contact with the second surface of the latent-reactive adhesive film. The adhesion is caused by heating the latent-reactive adhesive film to a temperature which corresponds to or is higher than at least the start temperature T(start). The invention is characterized in that at least the surface of the first substrate A which is brought into contact with the latent-reactive adhesive film is treated with a primer before the first substrate A is brought into contact with the latent-reactive adhesive film, and/or at least the first surface of the latent-reactive adhesive film which is brought into contact with the first substrate A is treated with a primer before the first substrate A is brought into contact with the latent-reactive adhesive film.
