The invention relates a process for the preparation of a bonded structure (4) comprising at least a first plastic part (1) having a first bonding surface (1a), said process comprising the step of a) treating at least part of a first bonding surface of said first plastic part with a flame of a propane-comprising gas, said propane-comprising gas being propane or a mixture comprising at least 50 wt. % of propane based on the weight of the propane-comprising gas with one or more gases selected from the group consisting of methane, ethane, butane, pentane, and hexane, wherein, during treatment with a flame of the propane-comprising gas, a flame is produced by burning a mixture of air and the propane-comprising gas, wherein the gas-to-air ratio is chosen such that the propane gas to oxygen volume ratio is equal to or less than 1:5.01, for example less than 1:5.00 and preferably at least 3.50 to obtain a first plastic part having a flame-treated first bonding surface.
HEAT-RESISTANT FILM
An object of the present invention is to provide a heat-resistant film that is suitable for protection of a surface provided with electrical conduction, decoration or the like in a plastic product, a glass product, a ceramic product, and the like, or that is suitable for holding a semiconductor, dies, and the like in producing dies through dicing and singulation. The film that solves the above object is a heat-resistant film comprising a thermoplastic resin, wherein (a) the thermoplastic resin is a polyester-based elastomer comprising a hard segment and a soft segment that are linked to each other, (b) the hard segment comprises a polyester unit constituted from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic diol or an alicyclic diol, (c) the soft segment is constituted mainly from the prescribed polycarbonate, (d) a weight ratio of the hard segment contained in the polyester-based elastomer exceeds 50%, and (e) the film comprising the thermoplastic resin has an elastic modulus of 30 to 500 MPa, an elongation at break of 200 to 700%, and a ratio F50/F25 of 1.05 or more, the ratio F50/F25 being a ratio of a stress F50 at an elongation of 50% to a stress F25 at an elongation of 25%.
Methods and formulations for bonding dissimilar materials
The present disclosure is directed to a formulations of cements and methods for bonding dissimilar materials. The formulations and methods can bond a Non-polyvinyl chloride (PVC) containing first polyolefin that is amorphous or has low crystallinity to a second material that is a rigid material or a hard PVC. The methods and formulations can work by co-dissolution at an interface, or activation of a one of the materials prior to bonding.
ADHESIVE FOR BONDING DISSIMILAR MATERIALS IN MEDICAL DEVICE
Bonding dissimilar materials of medical device components can be carried out by applying an adhesive on at least one surface of two components which are composed of dissimilar materials and contacting the surfaces and exposing the contacted surfaces to heat and/or irradiate the adhesive to cure the adhesive and bond the surfaces. One medical component, e.g., medical tubing, can be composed of a non-polar, polyvinyl chloride free thermoplastic polymeric material and the other medical component, e.g., a medical connector, can be composed of polyacrylate, polyacrylonitrile, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), methyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (mABS), polyester, and/or a polycarbonate material. The adhesive formulation can include: (a) a polyolefin oligomer having reactive acrylate groups and alkenyl groups, (b) an initiator, and optionally (c) a solvent.
FLEXIBLE HARDGOODS WITH ENHANCED PEEL REMOVABILITY
The present disclosure provides adhesive mounting articles that can be removed from surfaces without damage by having reduced contribution of a hardgood to the peel force generated by the adhesive article during removal. In some instances, this can be accomplished by a hardgood that is flexible in a peel direction and rigid in a weight hanging direction. Such hardgoods may include a plurality of minimally connected body segments arranged about the transverse axis of the hardgood body.
REACTIVE ADHESIVE FILM WITH GOOD HEAT-AND-HUMIDITY RESISTANCE, IN PARTICULAR FOR BONDING POLYAMIDE
Reactive adhesive film for bonding various materials, including plastic to metal, the adhesive film comprising (a) a polymeric film-forming matrix, (b) at least one epoxide-functionalized (meth)acrylate or vinyl monomer and (c) a reagent selected from an initiator, in particular a free-radical initiator, or an activator. Further disclosed are reactive adhesive film systems comprising two reactive adhesive films. Methods for producing reactive adhesive films, and methods are also disclosed.
Photochromic Film Laminate
Provided is a photochromic film laminate including (a) a first polymeric film layer having a first surface and an opposing second surface; and (b) an adhesive layer over at least a portion of and in direct contact with the first surface of the first polymeric film layer (a). The adhesive layer is formed from a composition of a thermoplastic polyol having a number average molecular weight greater than or equal to 30,000 g/mol; a poly(anhydride); and a photochromic material. The thermoplastic polyol (i) is present in the composition in an amount greater than or equal to 60 percent by weight based on total combined weight of solids present in the thermoplastic polyol (i) and the poly(anhydride) (ii). Also provided is an optical article prepared with the photochromic film laminate.
Two-component polyurethane adhesive
The present disclosure relates to a two-component polyurethane adhesive, based on a polyol component A and a polyisocyanate component B. The two-component polyurethane adhesive exhibits fast cure speed, good adhesion properties and good durability. The two-component polyurethane adhesive is developed for the adhesion adhesion of substrates, wherein the substrates are preferably selected from the group comprising sheet molding compounds (SMCs) and plastic substrates.
