Conformable, stretchable, printable films are described. In particular, films that include a film substrate, a pressure sensitive adhesive, and a hybrid solvent barrier/primer layer including a blend of two copolyamides that are not miscible are described. Such hybrid solvent barrier and primer layers may be effective as both a solvent barrier and a primer layer.

An article is described comprising a substrate, a pressure sensitive polyacrylate primer layer disposed on the substrate, and an adhesive layer disposed onto the primer layer; wherein the adhesive layer comprises a polyacrylate component. The adhesive layer is typically further bonded to a second substrate or a release liner. In some embodiments, at least one substrate further comprises a microstructured surface layer and the primer layer is bonded to the microstructured surface layer. In other embodiments, the adhesive layer is further bonded to a (e.g. post) structure. In some embodiments, the articles are optical films or optical film stacks. Methods of making an (e.g. adhesive coated) article are also described.

Mitigation of mineral oil migration in pressure-sensitive labels and films

Disclosed are hot-melt, curl-free methods, structures, and compositions, which in flexible packaging applications, reduce mineral-oil, hydrocarbon migration into packaged food. One embodiment provides an optionally oriented base film having a first side and a second side that is a transparent or opaque film. Further, the composition comprises, consists essentially of, or consists of a water-based primer applied to the first side. Further still, the composition includes a barrier layer to mineral-oil migration, wherein the barrier layer is located between the adhesive-receptive layer and the polymeric substrate, and wherein the barrier layer consists essentially of: (i) polymers of polyvinyl alcohol, ethylene vinyl alcohol, polyester, polyamide, or combinations thereof; and (ii) optionally additives. The barrier layer provides a barrier to mineral-oil migration of 0.1 μg/day*dm.sup.2 or less at 40° C. for 40 days, and the curl-resistant composition does not curl when heated for at least one hour at 60° C.

The invention provides an adhesion promoter composition comprising at least one polymer A selected from at least one epoxy resin-phenol resin precondensate, a mixture of at least one epoxy resin-phenol resin precondensate and epoxy resins, a mixture of epoxy resins and phenol resins, polyamide resins and mixtures thereof, and at least one copolyamide-based hotmelt adhesive. Additionally described is a primer composition comprising at least one polymer B selected from saturated polyester resins, epoxy-phenol resin precondensates, mixtures of epoxy resins and phenol resins, and mixtures thereof, at least one crosslinker resin selected from the group consisting of melamine resins, blocked isocyanate resins and mixtures thereof, at least one catalyst, and at least one copolyamide-based hotmelt adhesive.

MULTILAYERED POLYETHERKETONEKETONE ARTICLES AND METHODS THEREOF

Provided are articles, along with related methods, capable of providing an effective adhesive bond to a substrate containing polyetherketoneketone. The multilayered article includes a substrate comprising polyetherketoneketone, an adhesion promoter disposed on the substrate, the adhesion promoter comprising at least one of organotitanate, polyamide, surface-treated nanosilica, ammosilane or epoxy silane, and an adhesive bonded to the adhesion promoter. The adhesive contains at least one of an acrylic polymer, a polysulfide, a polythioether, an epoxy resin, or a silicone resin.

At least one example embodiment relates to a thermoresponsive smart adhesive pad. Provided is a thermoresponsive smart adhesive pad that includes a polymer layer including a plurality of concave grooves; a hydrophilic surface layer formed on the polymer layer; and a coating layer including a hydrogel and formed on the hydrophilic surface layer. Also, provided is a method of manufacturing a thermoresponsive smart adhesive pad, including forming a plurality of convex structures on a substrate; forming a plurality of concave grooves in a polymer layer using the substrate on which the plurality of convex structures are formed; forming a hydrophilic surface layer by performing a hydrophilic treatment of a surface of the polymer layer in which the plurality of concave grooves are formed; forming, on the hydrophilic surface layer, a coating layer including a mixed solution containing a hydrogel monomer; and irradiating ultraviolet (UV) rays to the coating layer.
