Provided is a laminate and a hot melt-type adhesive label that suppress curling due to swelling while having a pulp-paper feel. The laminate includes a porous substrate layer and an adhesive resin receiving layer on one side of the porous substrate layer, and the adhesive resin receiving layer contains an amorphous resin.

Primer layers for adhesion of pressure sensitive adhesive materials to substrates comprise a cured primer which is the reaction product of an epoxy resin and a polyamine. The epoxy resin may be an aromatic epoxy resin. The polyamine may be a polymer such as polyethylenimine (PEI) or polyvinylamine (PVA). Two-layer constructions comprise the primer layer according to the present disclosure and a substrate layer, which may be directly bound to the primer layer. The substrate layer may comprise one or more polyester polymers, may comprise one or more polymers comprising aromatic groups, and/or may comprise polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Tapes comprise the two-layer construction according to the present disclosure and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer, which may be directly bound to the primer layer. The tape may comprise a second pressure sensitive adhesive layer borne on the opposite face of the tape and optionally a foam layer.

There is provided a method of forming a seam between a first region of polymer film and a second region of polymer film. The method comprises pretreating a first region of a polymer film by applying a pretreatment composition comprising solid lubricant particles onto the first region of polymer film; priming the pretreated polymer film with a primer; electrophotographically printing an electrophotographic ink composition onto the primed polymer film to form a printed image; and solvent-bonding the pretreated first region of polymer film to the second region of polymer film to form a seam.

Primer layers for adhesion of a pressure sensitive adhesive material to a substrate are provided. The primer layer comprises a crosslinked polymer. In some embodiments, the primer layer has an atomic nitrogen content of greater than 6 wt %, and in some a ratio of atomic weight percent of oxygen to nitrogen of less than 3.0. In some embodiments the crosslinked polymer is the reaction product of an amine-functional base polymer such as a polyethylenimine (PEI) and a crosslinker, which may be a polyaziridine crosslinker. Also provided are two-layer constructions comprising the primer layer and a substrate layer; and tapes, such as flexographic plate mounting tapes, comprising the two-layer construction and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer.

An adhesive composition (composition) comprises an epoxy resin, a binder, and a curing agent. Typically, the composition further comprises an aqueous solvent (e.g. water) such that the composition can be referred to as an aqueous adhesive composition. The epoxy resin is typically encapsulated to prevent premature cure of the composition. After rupture of the encapsulated epoxy resin, the composition cures to form an adhesive. The composition is useful for articles such as fasteners (e.g. nuts and bolts) such that it can be referred to as a fastener adhesive. Typically, the composition is disposed on a threaded surface of the fastener. The fastener can be used for an assembly in which the composition generally cures after installation of the fastener. To make the fastener, the adhesive composition can be applied on the threaded surface. After application, the composition can be dried in instances where the composition still includes the aqueous solvent.
