Device for determining expansion pressure and expansion displacement generated by coking coal based on self-regulation of spring

A device for determining an expansion pressure and an expansion displacement generated by coking coal based on self-regulation of a spring includes a pyrolysis reactor, which is provided in a high temperature carbonization furnace. Two porous pressing plates are provided at both sides of a coal sample, and two metal filter plates are provided at both sides of the sample. Upper and lower openings of the reactor are sealed respectively with a connecting flange. The pressing plate above the sample is connected to a mounting baffle of a detection mechanism through a lightweight connecting rod and a spring. The detection mechanism is provided with a displacement sensor and a pressure sensor. This application further provides a detection method using the above device.

An apparatus, a system, and a method for heat treating a moisture-containing or water-laden material are provided. The heat treatment can be drying for dehydration, gasification, or full carbonization. The system comprises a feeding mechanism, and a rapid compression unit (RCU) apparatus having a screw, a barrel, and one or more flow disrupters. The system can further include a reflux condenser, an aftercooler stage, a second condenser for particle filtering, and an exit mechanism. The one or more flow disrupters are located on an inner surface of the barrel and project into the passageway created by the screw and the barrel. The screw is sized to fit within the barrel such that flow disrupter does not contact the screw. The one or more flow disrupters cause the water-laden material to fold over onto its self, thereby, allowing for the occurrence of more uniform drying.

Method for biomass fractioning by enhancing biomass thermal conductivity

A method is described for generating useful chemical intermediaries from biomass using a novel pyrolysis reactor that utilizes the inherent thermal properties of carbon under compression as the biomass is subjected to sequential or concurrent temperature ramps. The ramps are sufficient to volatilize and selectively create different components, while the pressure application aids the selective decomposition of the biomass.

Method for making sequesterable biochar

A method and process is described for producing negative carbon fuel. In its broadest form, a carbon-containing input is converted to combustible fuels, refinery feedstock, or chemicals and a carbonaceous solid concurrently in separate and substantially uncontaminated form. In an embodiment of the invention, biomass is converted via discrete increasing temperatures under pressure to blendable combustible fuels and a carbonaceous solid. The carbonaceous solid may be reacted to synthesis gas, sold as charcoal product, carbon credits, used for carbon offsets, or sequestered.
