CHEMICAL COMPOSITIONS AND IN-SITU METHODS OF USING SAME FOR REMEDIATING SULFUR-CONTAINING COMPOSITIONS AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS IN FLUIDS BEING EXTRACTED FROM THE EARTH
A treatment method for remediating various contaminants including H.sub.2S, CO.sub.2, NH.sub.3 and other contaminants contained in fluids being extracted from the earth comprises steps of: preparing an aqueous based treatment composition containing water and collectively 35-55 weight percent of one or more hydroxide compounds; injecting a dosage amount of the treatment composition into contaminated fluids located in a subterranean deposit under the earth's surface such that the treatment composition mixes with the fluids deep under the earth's surface; and extracting a mixture of the contaminated fluids and the treatment composition through a well such that the treatment compositions remediates contaminants in the fluids as the mixture passes through the well to the earth's surface, wherein a dosage amount of the treatment composition may be 0.010 to 10.0 ml of the aqueous based treatment composition/liter of the contaminated fluids being extracted from the subterranean deposit.

OXIDATION PROCESS
A process for the removal of residual sulfur compounds from rich liquid caustic is disclosed where a single column containing two reaction zones catalytically oxidizes mercaptans to disulfide oils. The second reaction zone utilizes a bundle of vertical hanging fibers and is maintained as a gas continuous phase comprising from about 20% to about 100% by volume vapor. This process is especially useful as part of a hydrocarbon desulfurization process flow scheme.

CATALYTIC CARBON FIBER PREPARATION METHODS
A method of producing a catalytic carbon fiber may include: providing a carbon fiber and an aminated macrocycle, mixing the carbon fiber and the aminated macrocycle with a solvent; and reacting the carbon fiber and the aminated macrocycle to form an amide bond between the carbon fiber and the aminated macrocycle thereby forming the catalytic carbon fiber.
Catalytic system, and process for removing heteroatomic compounds from hydrocarbon streams
The present invention describes an extractive oxidation process for removing contaminants from hydrocarbon streams using an ionic liquid combined with an organometallic ionic complex of iron(II), which comprises a complex of iron(II) cation with an ionophilic binder, catalyst of iron(II) with ionophilic binder in its molecular structure, oxidation of which is performed with an oxidizing agent and is catalysed by the organometallic iron(II) complex present in the phase of the ionic liquid. Besides maintaining its characteristics of selective solvent of oxidizing compounds, the ionic liquid combined with the organometallic complex of iron(II) with catalytic ionophilic binder of the oxidizing agent, stimulating the reactive phenomenon taking place in the ionic liquid phase, with the effect that the iron remains stable in the ionic liquid phase, without being leached into the oily phase. This measure results in a considerable improvement in removal of the heteroatoms from the hydrocarbon medium.
