An integrated refinery process for the disposal of metal-containing spent coked catalyst from hydrotreating and/or hydrocracking unit operations includes introducing the spent coked catalyst into a membrane wall gasification reactor in the form of flowable particles along with predetermined amounts of oxygen and steam based upon an analysis of the hydrocarbon content of the coke, and optionally, a liquid hydrocarbon; gasifying the feed to produce synthesis gas and a slag material; recovering and subjecting the slag material to further processes in preparation for a leaching step to solubilize and form one or more active phase metal compounds that are recovered from the leaching solution, either separately by sequential processing, or together. The recovered active metal compounds can be used, e.g., in preparing fresh catalyst for use in the refinery's hydroprocessing units.

Methods and systems for producing an enhanced surface area biochar product

Herein disclosed are apparatus and associated methods related to producing an enhanced surface area biochar product with a desired activation level based on receiving biochar into a processing vessel configured with multiple independently temperature-controlled chambers and counter-flow steam injection, controlling activation levels of the biochar by moving the biochar through the processing vessel and adjusting the temperature of the biochar by injecting steam into at least one temperature-controlled chamber of the processing vessel, recovering volatiles driven off through dehydration using a thermal oxidizer, cooling the biochar to a desired discharge temperature using steam and retention time, and discharging the activated biochar product. The processing vessel may be a calciner, a rotary calciner, or a kiln. Biochar may be heated or cooled to a desired thermochemical processing temperature depending on the temperature of the received biochar. Counter-flow saturated steam may sweep volatile gases to a thermal oxidizer using a vacuum system.

An organic material gasification system is configured such that a carbonization furnace provided with a first air supply mechanism that radiates high-temperature combustion air and high-temperature steam to an organic material combustion region and with a second air supply mechanism that supplies combustion air to an exhaust gas combustion region, to discharge high-temperature exhaust gas is connected to a gasification furnace including a heating unit penetrating through a reactor. A carbide from the carbonization furnace is supplied to the reactor, and the high-temperature exhaust gas from the carbonization furnace is supplied to the heating unit, so that the carbonization efficiency and the carbonization quality are improved and the gasification efficiency is improved.

Process for the production of high conductivity, carbon-rich materials from coal

A method of producing high conductivity carbon material from coal includes subjecting the coal to a dissolution process to produce a solubilized coal material, and subjecting the solubilized coal material to a pyrolysis process to produce the high conductivity carbon material.

Process to prepare an activated carbon product and a syngas mixture

The invention is directed to a process to prepare an activated carbon product and a gaseous fraction comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide and a mixture of gaseous organic compounds from a solid torrefied biomass feed comprising the following steps. (i) subjecting the solid biomass feed to a pyrolysis reaction thereby obtaining a gaseous fraction comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide and a mixture of gaseous organic compounds and a solid fraction comprising of char particles. (ii) separating the solids fraction from the gaseous fraction. and (iii) activating the char particles as obtained in step (ii) to obtain the activated carbon product.

AUTOMATIC COAL MINING MACHINE AND FLUIDIZED COAL MINING METHOD

An automatic coal mining machine and a fluidized coal mining method are provided. A first excavation cabin is configured to cut coal seam to obtain raw coal and to be transported to a first coal preparation cabin for separating coal blocks from gangue. Then, the obtained coal blocks are transported to a first fluidized conversion reaction cabin. The first fluidized conversion reaction cabin converts the energy form of the coal block into liquid, gas or electric energy, which is transported to a first energy storage cabin for storing. Coal mining and conversion are carried out in underground coal mines, so it is not necessary to raise coal blocks to the ground for washing and conversion, thereby reducing the transportation cost of coal, improving the utilization degree of coal, and avoiding the pollution of the ground environment caused by waste in the mining and conversion process.
