A method to capture and utilize CO2 and an installation for capturing and utilizing CO2
The invention relates to a cyclic method for capturing and utilizing CO.sub.2 contained in a gas stream. The method uses three different materials, a first solid material, a second solid material and a CO.sub.2 sorbent material.
In a first step a first gas stream comprising CO.sub.2 and at least one reductant is brought in contact with the three materials, resulting in an outlet stream comprising water. In a second step, the captured CO.sub.2 from the first step is released and converted to CO to produce a CO rich outlet stream. The invention further relates to an installation for capturing and utilizing CO.sub.2.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING CARBON DIOXIDE FROM A RESIDUAL GAS IN A FLUIDISED BED CATALYTIC CRACKING PLANT (FCC)
A process for separating carbon dioxide from a waste gas of a fluid catalytic cracking installation including converting at least a portion of the carbon monoxide of the waste gas into carbon dioxide to form a flow enriched in carbon dioxide, separating at least a portion of the flow enriched in carbon dioxide to form a gas enriched in carbon dioxide and depleted in nitrogen and a gas rich in nitrogen and depleted in carbon dioxide, and at least a portion of the gas enriched in carbon dioxide and depleted in nitrogen is separated by way of separation at a temperature of less than 0° C. to form a fluid rich in carbon dioxide and a fluid depleted in carbon dioxide and sending a gas containing at least 90% oxygen to combustion.
PROCESS
A process for the manufacture of a useful product from carbonaceous feedstock of fluctuating compositional characteristics, the process comprising the steps of: continuously providing the carbonaceous feedstock of fluctuating compositional characteristics to a gasification zone; gasifying the carbonaceous feedstock in the gasification zone to obtain raw synthesis gas; sequentially removing ammoniacal, sulphurous and carbon dioxide impurities from the raw synthesis gas to form desulphurised gas and recovering carbon dioxide in substantially pure form; converting at least a portion of the desulphurised synthesis gas to a useful product. Despite having selected a more energy intensive sub-process i.e. physical absorption for removal of acid gas impurities, the overall power requirement of the facility is lower on account of lower steam requirements and thereby leading to a decrease in the carbon intensity score for the facility.
Co-gasification of microalgae biomass and low-rank coal to produce syngas/hydrogen
A process and apparatus for producing syngas from low grade coal and from a biomass wherein the process includes (i) gasification of a mixture of low grade coal and biomass, (ii) reforming the gasified mixture, and (iii) removing CO.sub.2 from the gasified and reformed syngas mixture.

Process and apparatus for separating carbon dioxide from a waste gas of a fluid bed catalytic cracking (FCC) installation
In a process for separating carbon dioxide from a waste gas (3) of a fluid bed catalytic cracking installation (1) containing carbon dioxide, nitrogen and possibly carbon monoxide, the waste gas (3) is separated by adsorption to form a gas enriched in carbon dioxide and depleted in nitrogen (29) and a gas rich in nitrogen and depleted in carbon dioxide (31), and at least a portion of the gas enriched in carbon dioxide and depleted in nitrogen is separated in a separation device (30) by way of separation at a temperature of less than 0° C. by partial condensation and/or by distillation to form a fluid rich in carbon dioxide (35) and a fluid depleted in carbon dioxide (37).
System for producing organic substance and method for producing organic substance
A system for producing an organic substance, including: a synthesis gas generation furnace for producing a synthesis gas by partially oxidizing a waste including a carbon source; a synthesis gas purification unit connected to the synthesis gas generation furnace and purifying the synthesis gas generated in the synthesis gas generation furnace to reduce an impurity concentration in the synthesis gas; and an organic substance synthesis unit which is connected to the synthesis gas purification unit and generates an organic substance from the synthesis gas purified in the synthesis gas purification unit, wherein the synthesis gas purification unit includes a detection unit for measuring an impurity concentration in the synthesis gas.
