Desulfurization system using catalyst for desulfurization
Disclosed is a desulfurization system using a catalyst for desulfurization, including a coal feed unit for conveying a combustible substance, a spray unit for spraying a catalyst for desulfurization, a coal pulverization unit for pulverizing the combustible substance conveyed from the coal feed unit, and a combustion unit for combusting the pulverized combustible substance, wherein during transfer of the combustible substance from the coal feed unit to the coal pulverization unit, the catalyst for desulfurization is sprayed using the spray unit and is mixed with the combustible substance. The desulfurization system of the invention can be simply and easily applied to various combustion facilities because, during the transfer of the combustible substance from the coal feed unit to the coal pulverization unit, the catalyst for desulfurization is sprayed and is mixed with the combustible substance, thereby efficiently reducing sulfur oxide (SO.sub.x) emission due to combustion of fossil fuel.
POROUS CERAMIC FILTERS AND METHODS FOR FILTERING
Disclosed herein are particulate filtration systems comprising a fuel source, a fuel burner, and a porous ceramic structure, the fuel source comprising at least one fuel additive capable of producing ash upon combustion. The resulting ash can be deposited on the porous ceramic structure in an amount sufficient to improve the filtration efficiency of the structure over a relatively short period of time or relatively short driving distances. Vehicles comprising such particulate filtration systems and methods for filtering particulate matter from a fluid stream are also disclosed herein. Further disclosed herein are methods for conditioning a particulate filter to improve the initial filtration efficiency.
Oil based product for treating vanadium rich oils
Provided are oil-based fuel additive compositions that, when combusted with a fuel containing vanadium in a gas turbine, inhibit vanadium hot corrosion in the gas turbine. The oil-based fuel additive compositions include at least one rare earth element compound or alkaline earth element compound that retards vanadium corrosion resulting from combustion of vanadium rich fuel.
Manganese scavengers that minimize octane loss in aviation gasolines
Aviation gasolines and additives may have manganese-containing anti-knock components. The scavengers herein mitigate the possible deleterious effects from using the manganese-containing anti-knock. The scavengers include molecules with a central atom of a Group 15 element other than nitrogen. Entities that are attached to the central atom are electron withdrawing entities including electron deficient atoms and electron deficient functional groups.
Fuel Additive
A method for making a catalyst composition that includes a reduction catalyst mixture including a first reduction catalyst and a second reduction catalyst, wherein said first reduction catalyst comprises mixed vanadium oxides and phosphorus oxides, wherein said mixed vanadium and antimony oxides comprises V.sub.4Sb.sub.6O.sub.8, and wherein said second reduction catalyst comprises vanadium and antimony oxides; and an oxidation catalyst comprising ferrocene. The method includes selecting an organic petroleum distillate-soluble solvent that is effective to act as a reducing agent; introducing finely ground V.sub.2O.sub.5 and aqueous H.sub.3PO.sub.4 into said selected organic petroleum distillate-soluble solvent to make a first mixture; adding finely ground V/Sb oxide catalyst to said first mixture to make a second mixture; bringing the second mixture to a boil; cooling the second mixture; and adding the ferrocene or other organometallic Fe-source material to the cooled second mixture to make the catalyst composition.

Fuel additive composition and related methods
Fuel additive compositions include a plurality of metal nanoparticles and a carrier that is dispersible in a hydrocarbon fuel. The metal nanoparticles can be spherical-shaped and/or coral-shaped metal nanoparticles. The carrier can be liquid, gel or solid and can be readily miscible or soluble in a hydrocarbon fuel such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, or fuel oil. The carrier can be a solid carrier configured to allow the hydrocarbon fuel to dissolve the solid carrier in order to release and disperse the metal nanoparticles within the hydrocarbon fuel.
