Lubricant formulations with silicon-containing compounds

A lubricating oil composition including a major amount of a base oil, one or more calcium-containing detergents to provide at least 1000 ppmw of calcium, and one or more silicon-containing compound(s) to provide at least 50 ppmw of silicon to the lubricating oil composition, all based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition, wherein a ratio of ppmw of silicon provided by the one or more silicon-containing compound(s) to the lubricating oil composition to the ppmw of calcium provided by the one or more calcium-containing detergent(s) to the lubricating oil composition is from 0.02 to 1. Methods of using these compositions and silicon-containing detergents are also described.

LUBRICANT COMPOSITION

Lubricant compositions comprising a base oil, one or more antioxidants selected from a group consisting of N-α-naphthyl-N-phenylamine antioxidants and diphenylamine antioxidants; and a sulfur-containing additive comprising up to seven carbon atoms exhibit outstanding oxidative stability and non-corrosion properties. The N-α-naphthyl-N-phenylamine antioxidants plus diphenylamine antioxidants in total may be present from about 0.2 wt % to about 0.8 wt %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition. The sulfur provided by the sulfur-containing additive may be present from about 50 ppm to about 1000 ppm by weight, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition.

The present invention provides a thermal management system comprising a housing having an interior space; a heat-generating component disposed within the interior space; a heat exchanger; and a working fluid liquid disposed within the interior space wherein the heat-generating component is in contact with the working fluid. The working fluid comprises a Fischer-Tropsch derived base fluid; an antioxidant and anti-static additives. The system is constructed wherein a constant cyclical flow of working fluid is maintained across the heat-generating components, on to the heat exchanger and then back to the heat-generating component.

The present invention provides a method of thermal management of a heat-generating component comprising partially immersing a heat-generating component in a working fluid and transferring the heat from the heat-generating component using the working fluid in a constant cyclical flow of working fluid across the heat-generating components, on to a heat exchanger and then back to the heat-generating component.
