The disclosed technology provides lubricating composition comprising: an oil of lubricating viscosity, a p-dodecyl-phenol-free detergent and an oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol, wherein the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol is substituted with at least one aliphatic hydrocarbyl group of 1 to 250 carbon atoms (or 20 to 220, or 30 to 150 carbon atoms), and wherein the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol is substantially free of aromatic hydrocarbyl groups. The disclosed technology further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device (such as an internal combustion engine) with the lubricating composition. The disclosed technology further relates to the use of the of the lubricating composition in a passenger car internal combustion engine to improve control of at least one of the following (i) fuel economy, (ii) corrosion, (iii) cleanliness, and (iv) bore wear.

CYLINDER LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION FOR CROSSHEAD DIESEL ENGINE EQUIPPED WITH SCRUBBER

A cylinder lubricating oil composition for a crosshead diesel engine equipped with a scrubber, including: a base oil; and (A) a metallic detergent, wherein the composition has a base number of 15 to 125 mgKOH/g, and a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 10 to 30 mm.sup.2/s; and the composition satisfies the requirement (i) or (ii): (i) the composition includes: (B) 0.02 to 5.0 mass % of a demulsifier; (ii) the composition includes, as the component (A), (A1) a Ca phenate detergent; and (A2) a metallic detergent other than Ca phenate; the composition optionally includes (C-1′) 0.015 mass % or less in terms of nitrogen of a succinimide dispersant or a borated derivative thereof; and the Ph value of the formula (1) is 20×10.sup.−3 or less:

The present invention is concerned with a lubricating oil composition for two-wheeled vehicles, including a base oil (A) having a viscosity index of 120 or more, an ethylene-propylene copolymer (B), and a metal-based detergent (C), wherein the content of the ethylene-propylene copolymer (B) is 0.30% by mass or more on the basis of the whole amount of the lubricating oil composition; the metal-based detergent (C) contains a calcium phenate (C1) and a calcium sulfonate (C2), and a mass ratio of the content (Ca.sub.1) of the calcium phenate (C1) as expressed in terms of a calcium atom to the content (Ca.sub.2) of the calcium sulfonate (C2) as expressed in terms of a calcium atom is satisfied with a relation of (1.0≤Ca.sub.1/Ca.sub.2); and the lubricating oil composition has a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. is less than 9.3 mm.sup.2/s and an HTHS viscosity at 150° C. is 2.9 mPa.Math.s or more.

A comb copolymer viscosity modifier may be made by polymerization comprising at least, or consisting essentially of, the following monomers: (a) (optionally from 7.0 wt % to 18 wt %, by repeat units, of) a hydrogenated polybutadiene-based (alk)acrylate ester macromonomer; (b) (optionally from 33 wt % to 64 wt % or from 38 wt % to 58 wt %, by repeat units, of) a C.sub.3-C.sub.8 alkyl (alk)acrylate ester monomer; (c) (optionally up to 35.0 wt %, by repeat units, of) a C.sub.12-C.sub.24 alkyl (alk)acrylate ester monomer; and (d) (optionally from 3.0 wt % to 27 wt %, by repeat units, of) a C.sub.6-C.sub.20 aryl, aralkyl, or alkaryl (alk)acrylate ester monomer, such that a sum of repeat units due to (c) plus (d) constitute at least 21.0 wt % of repeat units of the comb copolymer viscosity modifier. Lubricant compositions comprising the comb copolymer viscosity modifier, as well as uses thereof and methods for modifying viscosity and dispersancy, are also contemplated.

The invention relates to aqueous polymer dispersions comprising at least one polymer obtainable by the reaction of at least one monomer M1 of the general formula H.sub.2CCHC(O)OR (I), wherein R is an unbranched alkyl chain comprising from 18 to 22 carbon atoms, and optionally at least one monomer M2. The invention relates moreover to a method for the preparing of such aqueous polymer dispersion and the use thereof as pour point depressant for crude oil, petroleum, and petroleum products.

Lubricating oil composition

A composition whereby a hydrocarbon-based base oil is used and in this base oil are incorporated, in terms of the total amount of the composition, 30 to 300 ppm of overbased calcium salicylate and, in net weight in terms of the total amount of the composition, 0.07 to 2.0 mass % of a non-dispersant polymethacrylate having a weight average molecular weight of 5000 to 200,000. The electrical conductivity at 25 C. of this composition is not less than 200 pS/m, the flash point is not less than 240 C., the pour point is 40 C. or lower and the micro clutch friction coefficient at 140 C. is not less than 0.08. This lubricating oil composition may be used in machines fitted with electronic control apparatus and can impart conductivity so as to inhibit the occurrence of noise which is detrimental to electronic control.
