Use of a Hydrocarbyl-Substituted Salicylic Acid Detergent as an Inhibitor of Lead Corrosion
This invention relates to the use of a metallic or non-metallic detergent which is a hydrocarbyl-substituted salicylic acid or a derivative thereof in a non-aqueous lubricant composition as an inhibitor of lead corrosion associated with ashless, organic ester, anti-wear additives and/or friction modifiers.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITION
Lubricant compositions comprising a base oil, one or more antioxidants selected from a group consisting of N-α-naphthyl-N-phenylamine antioxidants and diphenylamine antioxidants; and a sulfur-containing additive comprising up to seven carbon atoms exhibit outstanding oxidative stability and non-corrosion properties. The N-α-naphthyl-N-phenylamine antioxidants plus diphenylamine antioxidants in total may be present from about 0.2 wt % to about 0.8 wt %, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition. The sulfur provided by the sulfur-containing additive may be present from about 50 ppm to about 1000 ppm by weight, based on the total weight of the lubricant composition.

PROCESS FOR IMPROVING BASE OIL YIELDS
An improved process for making a base oil and for improving base oil yields by combining an atmospheric resid feedstock with a base oil feedstock and forming a base oil product via hydroprocessing. The process generally involves subjecting a base oil feedstream comprising the atmospheric resid to hydrocracking and dewaxing steps, and optionally to hydrofinishing, to produce a light and heavy grade base oil product. A process is also disclosed for making a base oil having a viscosity index of 120 or greater from a base oil feedstock having a viscosity index of about 100 or greater that includes a narrow cut-point range vacuum gas oil. The invention is useful to make Group II and/or Group III/III+ base oils, and, in particular, to increase the yield of a heavy base oil product relative to a light base oil product produced in the process.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
A lubricating oil composition which may contain a zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate, and whose color deterioration over time is alleviated. Such a lubricating oil composition may contain: a base oil (A); a zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate (B); and a sodium-based detergent (C). In such a lubricating oil composition, a content of zinc atoms may be 100 ppm by mass to 2,000 ppm by mass based on a total amount of the lubricating oil composition, and a content of sodium atoms may be 5 ppm by mass to 1,000 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition.
NON-NEWTONIAN ENGINE OIL LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS FOR SUPERIOR FUEL ECONOMY
Provided is an engine oil lubricant composition with improved fuel efficiency. The engine oil lubricant composition may include: a polyalpha olefin base oil component an amount of about 50 wt % to about 90 wt % based on a total weight of the engine oil lubricant composition, wherein the polyalpha olefin base oil component is a Group IV base oil and has a Noack volatility of about 12.5% to about 15%; a Group II base oil component in an amount of about 0.1 wt % to about 50 wt % based on the total weight of the engine oil lubricant composition. The engine oil lubricant composition may have (i) a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of about 10 cSt or less, (ii) a high temperature high shear viscosity at 150° C. of about 2.2 cP or less, and (iii) a Noack volatility of about 20% or less.
Universal synthetic lubricant, method and product-by-process to replace the lost sulfur lubrication when using low-sulfur diesel fuels
A diesel fuel lubricant as a replacement for sulfur lubrication in Ultra-Low and Low Sulfur Diesel fuels, the process for producing said lubricant, and the method of using said lubricant. This lubricant comprises alpha-olefins; low odor aromatic solvents; and at least one a base oil selected from the base oil group consisting of hydroisomerized high base oils and HT Severe Hydro-cracked Base Oils; as well as other ingredients. Also disclosed is a method for producing this lubricant.
