PRODUCTION OF RENEWABLE WAXES AND BASE OILS
Systems and methods are provided for processing a feed derived from a renewable source to form oligomerized compounds corresponding to waxes, ketone waxes, and/or lubricant boiling range compounds. The oligomerized compounds derived from the renewable source can have various novel properties relative to waxes and/or lubricant boiling range compounds derived from mineral sources or derived from renewable sources in a conventional manner. The oligomerized compounds can be derived from a renewable source including fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, such as glycerides (including triglycerides) and fatty amides. Optionally but preferably, at least a portion of the fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives can include olefinic bonds.
METHODS FOR PRODUCING FUELS, GASOLINE ADDITIVES, AND LUBRICANTS USING AMINE CATALYSTS
Provided herein are methods for producing α,β-unsaturated ketones from the condensation of methyl ketones in the presence of an amine catalyst. Such amine catalysts may be supported, for example, on a silica-alumina support. Such amine catalysts may be used in the presence of an additional acid. The α,β-unsaturated ketones may be produced by dimerization and/or timerization of the methyl ketones. Such α,β-unsaturated ketones may be suitable for use in producing fuels, gasoline additives, and/or lubricants, or precursors thereof. The methyl ketones may be obtained from renewable sources, such as by the fermentation of biomass.
Lubricating oil base oil, lubricating oil composition containing same, and continuously variable transmission using said lubricating oil composition
Provided are: a lubricant base oil capable of achieving both a high traction coefficient and an excellent low-temperature fluidity at a higher level and having a high flash point, which contains a ring-containing compound having at least (i) a crosslinked bicyclic ring where two rings are bonded while sharing 3 or more carbon atoms, and (ii) an acyloxy group or a hydrocarbyloxycarbonyl group each containing a branched hydrocarbon group with a main chain having 4 or more carbon atoms, a lubricating oil composition containing the lubricant base oil, and a continuously variable transmission using the lubricating oil composition.
LUBRICANT FOR MEDICAL DEVICE AND MEDICAL DEVICE
A lubricant for a medical device includes an anti-friction material and a radical scavenger.
Method for producing ketones for fuel and oil applications
A method and system for producing ketones, suitable for manufacture of base oil or diesel fuel components, from a feedstock of biological origin containing fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, and being at least partly in liquid form, by subjecting the feedstock to a catalytic ketonisation reaction, wherein the ketonisation reaction is carried out in a system having one or more ketonisation reactor(s) (A, B) each with at least one ketonisation catalyst bed (G). The method and system for producing ketones use a gas containing CO.sub.2 produced in the ketonisation reactors as a carrier gas.

Refractory binder system
A refractory formulation containing an anhydrous solvent, an oleophilic rheology modifier and a refractory aggregate exhibits non-thermoplastic behavior, and remains plastic and formable at temperatures in the range of 10 degrees Celsius to 180 degrees Celsius. The oleophilic rheology modifier may effectively bind with the solvent to create a gel-like structure with organic solvents with moderate to high polarity. A phyllosilicate clay that has been treated with a quaternary fatty acid amine may be used as the oleophilic rheology modifier.
