The present invention provides: a compound that has a low melting point and is capable of forming a film of high hydrophobicity, and a composition containing this compound. The compound of the present invention is represented by chemical formula (1).

Disclosed herein are improved lubricating compositions effective to prevent or reduce low speed pre-ignition in an engine, as well as to prevent or reduce corrosion of engine components. The lubricating compositions include a base oil combined with a calcium chelate complex, optionally in further combination with additional additives.

LUBRICATING COMPOSITION WITH ENHANCED FILTERABILITY

A lubricating oil composition that includes a highly paraffinic base oil, a controlled release friction modifier (CRFM) and an effective amount of detergent. The CRFM includes an ionic tetrahedral borate compound comprising a cation and a tetrahedral borate anion which includes a boron atom, the boron atom having two bidentate di-oxo ligands of C.sub.18 tartrimide. The CRFM is a high stabilizer CRFM. The detergent includes a mixed magnesium and calcium detergent system having a calcium to magnesium ratio of less than 2:1.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION FOR TWO-WHEELED MOTOR VEHICLES

A lubricating oil composition for two-wheeled motor vehicles including a base oil and a metal phenate and having a coefficient of friction measured of less than 0.0900. The lubricating oil composition in which a performance required for lubricating oil for engines is satisfied, and a good shift feeling is achieved while a high coefficient of friction is kept in a wet clutch.
