Soap compositions and methods
Natural soap compositions and methods of manufacturing the same having anti-microbial properties for treating and preventing diaper rash and other microbial infections. The soap compositions may contain one or more fatty acids with carbon length ranging from four (C4) to twenty-two (C22) and/or natural fatty acid mixtures of coconut oil, olive oil, and/or tall oil fatty acids which are saponified with lye. The saponification lye may be sodium or potassium hydroxide. In preferred embodiments, the soap compositions contain at least one of sodium or potassium caprate, sodium or potassium caprylate, or mixtures thereof, especially 55:45% caprylate to caprate. The soap compositions are effective at treating or preventing diaper rashes and other microbial infections associated with Candida albicans (Ca—yeast), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Psa—a Gram negative bacteria), Staphylococcus aureus (Sa—a Gram positive bacteria), and Aspergillus niger (An—a mold).
Potassium soaps that can be thickened with chloride salts
Natural liquid potassium soap compositions and methods of manufacturing and using the same are provided with thickening by the addition of chloride salts, such as sodium chloride and potassium chloride. The natural liquid potassium soap compositions may contain one or more fatty acids with carbon length ranging from four (C4) to twenty-two (C22) or natural fatty acid mixtures with coconut oil, olive oil, tallow, sunflower oil, safflower oil, and/or tall oil fatty acids which are saponified with lye. The saponification lye is preferably potassium hydroxide. Preferred embodiments contain potassium salts of fatty acids comprising at least oleic acid (C18:1 cis-9), olive oils, coconut oils or mixtures thereof. The chloride salt is added in either solid or liquid form following saponification and neutralization.

Composition and method for preventing or reducing engine knock and pre-ignition in high compression spark ignition engines
A method for preventing or reducing engine knock or pre-ignition in a high compression spark ignition engine lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition that contains (i) a lubricating oil base stock comprising at least one ester including at least one group selected from the group consisting of Formula (1), Formula (2), and Formula (3): ##STR00001##
The lubricating oils of this disclosure are useful as passenger vehicle engine oil (PVEO) products.

Tubular threaded joint having improved high torque performance
A tubular threaded joint is constituted by a pin and a box each having a contact surface comprising an unthreaded metal contact portion including a seal portion and a shoulder portion and a threaded portion. Of the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box, the surfaces of the seal portion and the shoulder portion has a first lubricating coating in the form of a solid lubricating coating, and the surface of the threaded portion or the entire surface of the contact surface has a second lubricating coating selected from a viscous liquid lubricating coating and a solid lubricating coating. The first lubricating coating has a coefficient of friction which is higher than that of the second lubricating coating, and the second lubricating coating is positioned on top in a portion where both the first lubricating coating and the second lubricating coating are present.

PROTECTIVE LAYER FORMING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A protective layer forming device includes lubricant including fatty acid metal salt and a lubricant application blade. The lubricant application blade includes a contact portion contacting a surface of an image bearer to apply the lubricant on the surface of the image bearer. The contact portion includes polyurethane elastomer that includes a reaction product of polytetramethylene ether glycol, aromatic isocyanate, and amine. The contact portion has a Martens hardness of 5.0 N/mm.sup.2 or more and 30.0 N/mm.sup.2 or less. The lubricant applied to the surface of the image bearer by the lubricant application blade has a normalized ionic strength A of a metal ion amount derived from the fatty acid metal salt, satisfying a following expression (1),
where the normalized ionic strength A is measured by a time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometer.
