Lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engines of passenger and commercial four-wheeled vehicles
A lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engines of passenger and commercial four-wheeled vehicles is provided which can exhibit excellent fuel efficiency performance and wear resistance reliability. The lubricating oil composition includes a base oil and a complex polyester mixture. The base oil includes at least one of poly-α-olefin, an ester-based base oil, or a partially hydrogenated mineral oil. The complex polyester mixture includes a polyester obtained by condensing a polyhydric alcohol, a polycarboxylic acid, and a monohydric alcohol having an oxyalkylene group. The content of the complex polyester mixture is 0.01% by mass or more with respect to the total mass of the lubricating oil composition, the high-temperature shear viscosity (HTHS viscosity) at 150° C. is 1.0 mPa.Math.s to 2.6 mPa.Math.s, and the NOACK evaporation amount is 40% or less.
LUBRICATING COMPOSITION
A lubricating composition for use in the crankcase of an engine comprising (i) a base oil; (ii) one or more organo-molybdenum compounds at a level sufficient to provide from 100 to 1000 ppmw of molybdenum; and (iii) from 0.2 wt % to 5.0 wt %, by weight of the lubricating composition, of one or more organic polymeric friction reducing additives, wherein the one or more organic polymeric friction reducing additives has a molecular weight ranging from 1000 to 30000 Daltons and is the reaction product of: a) a hydrophobic polymeric sub unit which comprises a hydrophobic polymer selected from polyolefins, polyacrylics and polystyrenyls; b) a hydrophilic polymeric sub unit which comprises a hydrophilic polymer selected from polyethers, polyesters, polyamides; c) optionally at least one backbone moiety capable of linking together polymeric sub units; and d) optionally a chain terminating group. The lubricating composition provides improvements in terms of reduced friction and wear, in addition to improved fuel economy performance.
Metal working fluid
A metal working fluid having increased resistance to bacterial growth. The metal working fluid includes a cross-linked polymeric ester emulsifier; and an amine represented by the formula (H.sub.2N).sub.a-Q-(NH.sub.2).sub.b, where a and b are each integers, and Q is at least one carbon atom. Q may also be represented by XYZ, where a+b2; X is a cyclic ring system including 3 to 24 carbon atoms; and Y and Z are groups that include at least one carbon atom directly attached to the cyclic ring system. The metal working fluid may also include a biocide, and may also include an amide that is formed by reacting the amine with a carboxylic acid.
