Aqueous Composition Comprising Water-Soluble Glycerin-Based Polyalkylene Glycols and Use Thereof
The invention relates to aqueous composition comprising water-soluble glycerin-based polyalkylene glycols as synthetic base oils as well as the use of the composition and the glycerin-based polyalkylene glycols as or in metalworking fluids, wherein the glycerin was consecutively alkoxylated in the following order: first with propylene oxide, followed by ethylene oxide and finally with propylene oxide.
Halogen-containing synthetic base oils, and preparation method and use thereof
The present invention provides a class of halogen-containing synthetic base oils, and preparation method and use thereof. The synthetic base oils have introduced with halogen, especially fluorine, wherein the dipole motion of the halogen groups results in dipole interaction between the dipoles of other components and the base oil molecules of dipole-dipole and dipole-induced halogen (especially fluorine), and the interaction force is stronger and more localized than the dispersion force between the molecules of pure hydrocarbon synthetic oils, and thus the performance of the base oils is directly affected. It solved the problem of oil solubility of pure hydrocarbon synthetic oils, and also improved the properties of oxidation resistance and thermal stability.
Heat and mass transfer component comprising a lubricant-impregnated surface
A heat and mass transfer component comprises a lubricant-impregnated surface including hydrophobic surface features, which comprise nanostructured surface protrusions having a hydrophobic species attached thereto. The hydrophobic surface features are impregnated with a fluorinated lubricant having a viscosity in a range from about 400 mPa.Math.s to about 6000 mPa.Math.s. A method of fabricating a lubricant-impregnated surface on a heat and mass transfer component comprises: cleaning a thermally conductive substrate to form a cleaned substrate; exposing the cleaned substrate to a hot water or hot alkaline solution to form a thermally conductive substrate having nanostructured surface protrusions; depositing a hydrophobic species on the nanostructured surface protrusions to form hydrophobic surface features; and coating the hydrophobic surface features with a fluorinated lubricant having a viscosity in a range from 400 mPa.Math.s to 6000 mPa.Math.s. The heat and mass transfer component may exhibit a substantial increase in heat transfer coefficient during hydrocarbon condensation.
CORROSION-RESISTANT GREASES AND WET LUBRICANTS
A corrosion-resistant wet film lubricant composition includes a lubricating pigment, an oil, and a thickener. The lubricating pigment comprises graphene platelets and is dispersed in the oil, and the thickener thickens the wet film lubricant. The graphene platelets are oxidized and functionalized with a silane. In another example, a method of producing a corrosion-resistant lubricant includes oxidizing exfoliated graphene to produce oxidized graphene platelets, functionalizing the oxidized graphene platelets with a silane to produce functionalized graphene platelets, and dispersing the functionalized graphene platelets in a lubricant composition, wherein the lubricant composition comprises an oil and a thickener.
COOLING LUBRICANT FOR COLD ROLLING ALUMINUM
Described is a cooling lubricant for cold rolling aluminum, which includes a mineral oil-based or synthetic base oil and a polyalkylene glycol or a compound with a polyalkylene oxide structure. Further, the cooling lubricant is not water-soluble or miscible with water, and the cooling lubricant is substantially free of fatty acids and fatty alcohols.
Aqueous polymer dispersions, a method for their preparation and the use thereof as pour-point depressants for crude oil, petroleum, and petroleum products
The invention relates to aqueous polymer dispersions comprising at least one polymer obtainable by the reaction of at least one monomer M1 of the general formula (I): H.sub.2C═CH—C(O)OR, wherein R is an unbranched alkyl chain comprising from 18 to 22 carbon atoms, and optionally at least one monomer M2. The invention relates moreover to a method for the preparing of such aqueous polymer dispersion and the use thereof as pour point depressant for crude oil, petroleum, and petroleum products.
Aqueous cutting fluid composition
A water-based cutting fluid that comprises water and a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol (PAG) having cloud point from 30° C. to 80° C. The cutting fluid is water-based, i.e., it comprises at least 50 percent by weight (wt %) water. The cutting fluids are well suited for use with diamond wiresaws for the cutting of silicon ingots. The fluids exhibit one or more of low hydrogen generation, no wafer cleaning issues, good lubricity, good cooling efficiency, good swarf suspension and dispersion, low foaming, are generally non-sensitive to metal ions, and are nonflammable.
Additive and lubricant for industrial lubrication
Turbine lubricant additives and lubricants including such additives that provide rust prevention and water separation but also pass the demanding stage II wet filterability at the same time.

Low-friction and low-adhesion materials and coatings
Disclosed are materials that possess both low adhesion and the ability to absorb water. The material passively absorbs water from the atmosphere and then expels this water upon impact with debris, to create a self-cleaning layer. The lubrication reduces friction and surface adhesion of the debris (such as an insect), which may then slide off the surface. The invention provides a material comprising a continuous matrix including a polymer having a low surface energy (less than 50 mJ/m.sup.2) and a plurality of inclusions, dispersed within the matrix, each comprising a hygroscopic material. The continuous matrix and the inclusions form a lubricating surface layer in the presence of humidity. The material optionally contains porous nanostructures that inject water back onto the surface after an impact, absorbing water under pressure and then releasing water when the pressure is removed. The material may be a coating or a surface, for example.
