A lubricating oil composition may have excellent long-term anti-foaming performance and detergency while blending a silicone-based anti-foaming agent. Such a lubricating oil composition may contain a base oil (A) and a silicone-based anti-foaming agent (B). A silicon atom content may be 50 ppb by mass to 4,000 ppb by mass, based on a total amount of the lubricating oil composition.

A composition contains a polyalkylene glycol and a fatty amine ethoxylate, the fatty amine ethoxylate having non-cyclic structure of structure (I). Lubricating composition containing a self-assembling polymethacrylate block copolymer and an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer

The invention provides a lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and synergistic mixture of a functionalized ethylene-α-olefin copolymer, a poly(meth)acrylate block polymer having a substantially oil soluble block and a substantially oil insoluble block. The invention also provides a method of lubricating a mechanical device using such a lubricating composition.

A method of reducing low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in a direct-injected spark-ignited internal combustion engine comprising lubricating the crankcase of the engine with a composition comprising a combination of a molybdenum-containing additive and a boron-containing additive. Preferably, the composition comprises a calcium detergent providing a calcium content of at least 0.08 wt. %, based on the weight of the lubricating oil composition.

Silicone functionalized viscosity index improver

A multi-functional olefin copolymer viscosity index improver and a lubricating oil composition including such lubricant additive that provides improved viscometric properties and helps reduce low speed pre-ignition events at the same time. In one approach, the multi-functional olefin copolymer viscosity index improver is silicone functionalized and includes an acylated olefin copolymer with aminosilane or aminosiloxone pendant or side groups.

A lubricating composition comprises at least 50 percent by mass, based on the mass of the composition of an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.01 to 25 percent by mass, based on the mass of the composition of an oil-soluble poly(2-oxazine) polymer. The polymer has the repeat unit: ##STR00001##

The polymer carries an inorganic or organic nucleophilic polymerisation terminating group (t), and an initiator group (i) connected to the N atom of a repeat unit, the initiator group (i) being effective to initiate the polymerisation of linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl moieties. R.sup.1 comprises a single or a mixture of linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl groups having 1-50 carbon atoms, some or all having 12-50 carbon atoms, or of at least one macro-monomeric hydrocarbyl group with more than 50 carbon atoms.

A method for lubricating an internal combustion engine, the method including: supplying a lubricating oil composition to a cylinder of an internal combustion engine, wherein the internal combustion engine has a mean effective pressure of no less than 1.3 MPa, wherein an integrated intensity ratio of peaks of CaO in a X-ray diffraction spectrum of an ash is no more than 16.5%, the ash being obtained by incinerating the lubricating oil composition in an air at 950° C.

Lubricant composition

A lubricant composition includes a base oil present in an amount of greater than 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the lubricant composition and an antioxidant. The antioxidant has the structure: wherein each X is independently C-A or N, so long as at least one X is N but no more than two of X are N. Moreover, A is H, cyano or an electron donating group that: (1) has an atom having at least one lone pair of electrons that is bonded directly to the aromatic ring; or (2) is an aryl group or alkyl group.
