Compositions and methods are provided that generated a persistent low-friction coating on a solid surface, by application of a mixture of a polyethylene glycol-containing surfactant and a vegetable to the surface. The coating thus generated does not require replenishing during use and persists through rinsing and multiple uses. Surprisingly, markedly reduced friction is found when the surfactant is provided at 3% w/v to 7% w/v in the composition. Such compositions and methods are suitable for application to both mixing and separation operations. Formulation of such compositions with food grade components permits use in food processing.

Solid lubricant and method of making the same

A solid-state lubricant composition is disclosed. The solid-lubricant contains graphene, an oxide of a metal, and one or more polymeric binders. A method of making a solid-state lubricant coating on various substrates is disclosed. The method includes the steps of making a homogeneous slurry comprising powder of an oxide of a metal, graphene, and a polymeric binder with organic volatile solvent; coating a substrate with the homogeneous slurry with desired thicknesses; and drying the slurry on the substrate naturally or applying additional heat, resulting in a solid lubricant coating on the substrate. Substrates with coated solid composite lubricant show wear reduction and lower coefficient of friction compared with uncoated substrates.

Agent for forming solid lubricating coating film, oil country tubular goods, threaded joint for oil country tubular goods, and method for manufacturing oil country tubular goods

A solid lubricating coating film capable of imparting favorable lubricity and corrosion resistance to a connection for oil country tubular goods. Two or more solid lubricants are dispersed in a binder resin. Graphite is contained in an amount of 50% or more and 90% or less of a total weight of the solid lubricants, and the graphite has a scaly shape and an average particle diameter of 10.0 m or less. A solid lubricant made of one or more materials selected from BN, mica, talc, MCA, MoS.sub.2, PTFE, PFA, and FEP is further contained as other solid lubricants of the two or more types of solid lubricants. The binder resin contains a PEEK resin having an average particle diameter of 20 m or less as a main component, and the PEEK resin is contained in an amount of 70% or more of a total weight of the binder resin.

Coating comprising a transition metal dichalcogenide, and coated articles and methods relating thereto

A coated article includes a substrate, and a coating disposed on a surface of the substrate. The coating comprises a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD). A method of forming a coating includes dispersing a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) and optionally tungsten carbide in a solvent to form a mixture, spraying the mixture on a surface of a substrate, evaporating the solvent, and forming a coating on the substrate comprising the TMD.

Compositions for reducing friction or stiction of a surface, methods and articles comprising the same

A composition for reducing friction or stiction of a surface is disclosed. The composition comprises at least one organosilane, at least one organophosphorus, or a combination of at least one organosilane and at least one organophosphorus. The composition further comprises at least one polymer. Methods of applying the composition to a surface are also disclosed. Non-limiting examples of surfaces to which the composition can be applied include metal, metal alloys, metal oxide, glass, ceramic, or plastic substrates, and combinations thereof. Articles comprising at least one surface having been treated with the composition are also disclosed. Non-limiting examples of such articles include windows, watches and watch bands, screens, monitors, high-touch surfaces, electronic products, housing for electronics, and combinations thereof. Such articles can also exhibit enhanced hydrophobicity and/or anti-corrosion properties compared to untreated articles.
