BIOLOGICALLY-DERIVED FATTY ACIDS AND POLYMERS
Disclosed herein, inter alia, are fatty acid and polymer compositions and methods of making the same.
PROCESS OF PRODUCING MAGNESIUM SALTS OF PUFAS AND COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAME
The disclosure relates to a magnesium salt of one or more polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), a process for preparing same and a composition comprising said magnesium salt of one or more PUFAs and at least one stability enhancer.
NEAT REACTION PRODUCT OF CALCIUM AND VOLATILE FATTY ACIDS AS NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT FOR LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY
A process and composition for animal feed supplements without substantial foul odor problems prepared by reacting neat, a calcium metal source selected from the group consisting of calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide with a low molecular weight volatile fatty acid selected from the group consisting of butyric acid, isobutyric acid, 2 methyl butyric acid, valeric acid and isovaleric acid. Under controlled reaction conditions (neat) and a controlled weight ratio of the two reactants a product that is substantially odor free and useful as an animal feed supplement results.
PROCESS FOR PREPARING A SOLID FORM OF BASIC AMINO ACID SALTS OF POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS
The present disclosure relates to the basic amino acid salts of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), and a process for producing same comprising mixing one or more PUFAs in an acid form and a basic amino acid in a mixture of a first organic solvent and water at a temperature of between about above 0° C. to about the boiling point of said first organic solvent; adding a second organic solvent to said mixture of said first organic solvent and water, in an amount effective for precipitating said basic amino acid salts of PUFAs; and evaporating said first and second organic solvents and water to recover said basic amino acid salts of PUFAs.

Fuel additives, fuels, methods of making and using same
A method of producing a low sulfur tall oil fatty acid by first esterifying the tall oil fatty acid, followed by distillation of the tall oil fatty acid ester, followed by saponification and acidulation to provide a low sulfur tall oil fatty acid. A fuel additive comprising tall oil fatty acid and a sulfur compound, wherein the sulfur compound comprises from about 0.1 to about 20 ppm of the additive. A fuel comprises a hydrocarbon fuel component and the fuel additive.
Xanthophyll compositions and methods of use
The present invention encompasses a carotenoid composition, a process for producing a carotenoid composition, and methods of use thereof.
Methods for making free fatty acids from soaps using thermal hydrolysis followed by acidification
Provided are methods, processes and systems for treating a soapstock. In alternative embodiments, provided are systems and methods for treating a soapstock to generate free fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, e.g. fatty acid alkyl esters. In alternative embodiments, provided are systems and methods for realizing the full fatty acid yield of a soapstock by first converting substantially all of the saponifiable material in a soapstock to salts of fatty acids (soaps) and acidulating the soaps to generate free fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, e.g. fatty acid alkyl esters, wherein the soapstock comprises soaps and saponifiable lipids, e.g. glycerides and/or phospholipids, and the generating of free fatty acids and/or fatty acid is achieved.
