FORMULATION TO SOLIDIFY COOKING OIL OR GREASE AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
20220408750 · 2022-12-29 ·

A formulation for solidifying used cooking oil or grease and methods of making and using the same is disclosed. The formulation comprises hydrogenated castor oil, sometimes having a flake morphology. In some embodiments, the formulation has a melting point of between 70 and 80° C. and a density between 0.7 and 1.0 g/L. In some embodiments, the formulation is created by heating castor oil in the presence of a catalyst until at least some of the ricinoleic acid content in the castor oil is reduced to form hydrogenated castor oil in a reaction mixture. The method of using the formulation comprises the steps of mixing the formulation and used cooking oil or grease at an elevated temperature until the formulation completely dissolves into the used cooking oil to form a formulation mixture, and waiting until the formulation mixture cools and solidifies prior to disposal.

Integrated waste conversion system and method

An entirely water-based, energy self-sufficient, integrated in-line waste management system is provided for comprehensive conversion of all organic fractions of municipal and wider community waste to fuels suitable for use in transportation, with all solid residues converted to high nutrition compost. The system is based on a combination of pre-treatment, involving alkaline hydrolysis and saponification; three-way separation of the pre-treated waste into different streams that are each directed to suitable further processing including fuel production; which includes biodiesel generation in a continuous-flow catalytic esterification unit, and anaerobic digestion to produce methane or other small molecule biofuel. Remaining solids are converted to compost in a quasi-continuous process.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SN-2 PALMITIC TRIACYLGLYCEROLS
20230159966 · 2023-05-25 ·

The present invention concerns an enzymatic process for the preparation of an ingredient comprising 1,3-Olein-2-palmitin (OPO), the most abundant triglyceride present in human breast milk. This is achieved by using immobilized lipase from Ther-momyces lanuginosis for producing 1,3-olein-2-palmitin (1,3-Dioleate-2-palmitate-glycerol) using as substrate tripalmitin or triglycerides enriched in palmitic acid at SN-2 position by first alcoholysis in presence of C3 to C5 alcohol (butanol, pentanol, isopropanol) to produce 2-monopalmitin which is purified by selective crystallization at decreased temperature, followed by esterification using the same lipase and oleic acid.
