Disclosed is a well insert for cell culture, including: a membrane support having an upper end and a lower end, the upper end being adapted to engage a well of a microplate so as to suspend the well insert therein; and a permeable membrane for supporting a tissue culture, the permeable membrane being attached at the lower end of the membrane support and sealed thereto, the permeable membrane being of brittle material. The membrane support is overmolded or fastened on to the permeable membrane so as be sealed thereto.

Disclosed is a well insert for cell culture and a method of manufacturing same, where the well insert has a membrane support made of a polyolefin material and having an upper end and a lower end, the upper end being adapted to engage a well of a microplate so as to suspend the well insert therein, and a permeable membrane sealed to the membrane for supporting a tissue culture, the permeable membrane being of brittle material and transparent in both air and water.

A cell filtration assembly adapted to capture cells from a biological sample during centrifugation includes a filter support member including a sample well and a filter membrane that spans the sample well. In some cases, the filter support member and/or the filter membrane may be adapted to be sectioned. In some cases, a protective element may be disposed over at least a portion of the filter support member in order to protect the filter support member from tissue processing reagents during processing of the cells captured from the biological sample.

A cell culture module includes a cell culture substrate that has, on a surface thereof, a recessed portion that cultures a cell, in which at least a bottom surface of the recessed portion includes a porous body, a holding member that houses the cell culture substrate and that has an internal space partitioned into a first space and a second space by the cell culture substrate, and an oxygen sensor that is provided inside the first space of the holding member and that measures a concentration of dissolved oxygen in the culture medium. The oxygen sensor measures the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the vicinity of the cultured cell.
