Cell culture system and method
A bioprocess system and a method for incubating, growing and harvesting cell cultures is described. Also disclosed is a bioprocess container that can be used with the system. In one aspect of the present disclosure, the bioprocess system includes bioprocess tubes and cell culture tubes having particular dimensions and being made from specific materials that allow the tubes to be welded together while preventing open connections and/or ruptures. In this manner, bioprocess containers can be connected and disconnected from a cell culture apparatus without having to perform the manipulation within a closed environment and without associated monitoring.
Acoustic wave based particle agglomeration
Articles of manufacture, including an apparatus for acoustic wave based agglomeration, are provided. The apparatus may include a well and an acoustic wave device. The well may be configured to hold a suspension that includes a plurality of particles. The acoustic wave device may be configured to generate a plurality of acoustic waves. The plurality of acoustic waves inducing acoustic streaming within the suspension. The acoustic streaming agitating the suspension to form an agglomerate comprising at least a portion of the plurality of particles. Methods for acoustic wave based agglomeration are also provided.
Column-based device for retrieval of rare cells based on size, and uses thereof
A column-based device and method for retrieving cells of interest were enclosed. The said device comprises a column comprising (i) an inner wall defining an inner chamber with inlet and outlet openings, (ii) a perforated plug disposed adjacent to the outlet opening, (iii) a sleeve insert with a channel and disposed within the chamber and adjacent to the perforated plug, and (iv) a filtering means housed within sleeve insert sandwiched between two sealing means. In particular, Tumor-derived endothelial cell clusters (TECCs) as characterized multiple nuclei, expression of endothelial markers (PECAM1, VWF and CDH5), and non-expression of leukocyte, megakaryocyte and platelets markers, may be retrieved using the disclosed device. Also encompassed are methods, reagents and kits for the diagnosis and prognosis of cancers by detecting for the presence of TECCs isolated from blood samples using the claimed device.
Fluid connector
Disclosed herein are cell processing systems, devices, and methods thereof. A system for cell processing may comprise a plurality of instruments each independently configured to perform one or more cell processing operations upon a cartridge, and a robot capable of moving the cartridge between each of the plurality of instruments.
Filter unit for filtering and method for collecting cells in a liquid cell culture medium
A liquid cell culture medium collecting filter unit includes a porous metal membrane that filters out cells in a liquid cell culture medium, a support that holds a peripheral portion of the porous metal membrane. and a tubular member that has a hollow part serving a flow path for a liquid cell culture medium. The tubular member is connected to the support such that the flow path faces at least part of a main surface of the porous metal membrane.
Separation apparatus and use thereof
Separating apparatus, comprising a sedimentation settler and a collection vessel disposed underneath and being in fluid communication with the sedimentation settler, the collection vessel forming a receiving chamber having an outlet at or adjacent to the chamber bottom and having an inlet opening, wherein the collection vessel is arranged such the flow direction of the fluid in the area underneath the sedimentation settler is substantially in line with the direction of the channels of the sedimentation settler.
Adipose tissue centrifuge and method of use
A centrifuge device is provided for the sizing and separation of constituents of a biologic mixture, e.g., adipose tissue. The device provides for the mechanical breaking down of the fibrous structure in the tissue by centrifugation causing the tissue to pass through a mesh element, or a sizing helix, or an extrusion element, whereupon the material is reduced to a slurry. This processed material may then be separated by centrifugation into its constituents, in order to harvest the fraction containing the multipotent cells. These multipotent cells may be utilized for various medical procedures to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration.
VESSEL, SYSTEM, AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR PRODUCT CONCENTRATION
Vessel configured to facilitate concentration of a product in a solution. The vessel may include outlet ports to deliver the solution to a processing system (such as a filtration system), and inlet ports. The inlet ports may be at progressively lower levels for return of fluid thereto reduced in volume as a result of filtration thereof. A smaller volume sump may be provided below a main tank of the vessel to facilitate concentration of the solution. The sump may include ridges facilitating collection of the product of interest from the solution, and/or reinforcing the sump walls, and optionally forming a vortex breaker. A spray ball may be provided to spray materials, such as buffer solution, into the vessel. The spray ball may direct materials to facilitate retrieval of product from the vessel. One or more components of the vessel may be advantageously formed of disposable material for single use thereof.
Micro algae harvesting methods and devices
The present invention relates to a particulate material separation assembly. It comprises a filtration membrane and an antifouling device. The antifouling device comprises one or more magnets and a plurality of magnetisable particles. The one or more magnets cause the plurality of magnetisable particles to self-assemble into dynamic bristles, thereby forming a brush. The particulate material separation assembly is particularly useful in the context of micro algae harvesting.
Systems for utilizing crossflow filtration for cell enrichment
A disposable cell enrichment kit includes a crossflow filtration device configured to be disposed along a main loop pathway and to receive a process volume containing a biological sample and utilize crossflow filtration, via a micro-porous membrane, to retain a specific cell population in a retentate from the process volume and to remove a permeate including certain biological components from the process volume. The crossflow filtration device includes a laminated filtration unit that includes the micro-porous membrane, a first mating portion, a second mating portion, and a membrane support. The membrane support includes a first plurality of structural features that define a first plurality of openings, wherein the first plurality of structural features are coupled to the micro-porous membrane and provide support to the micro-porous membrane, and the first plurality of openings allow the permeate to flow through them after crossing the micro-porous membrane.
