DEVICE FOR LIQUID PROCESSING IN CELL CULTURE PROCESS
The present disclosure relates to a device for liquid processing in the process of cell culture, comprises: a settling tank which is configured to store a cell culture fluid from a bioreactor; a communicating tube that allows the bioreactor to communicate with the settling tank; a first excretory tube for discharging a cell concentrate, which is connected to the settling tank; a second excretory tube for discharging a supernatant, which is connected to the settling tank; a pump; and a control unit. In such device, after the cell culture fluid is separated into the supernatant and the cell concentrate by the gravitational settling in the settling tank, the control unit is configured to control the pump to (a) return the supernatant to the bioreactor through the communicating tube and harvest the cell concentrate through the first excretory tube and/or (b) harvest the supernatant through the second excretory tube and return the cell concentrate to the bioreactor through the communicating tube.
PLANT FAT-BASED SCAFFOLDS FOR THE GROWTH OF CELL-BASED MEATS AND METHODS OF MAKING SUCH PRODUCTS
A plant fat-based scaffold for growing cell-based meat products for consumption. The scaffold comprises primarily plant fats or waxes in addition to cell binding proteins and optional additional components that assist in the growth of cultivated animal cells. The scaffold can exist in both a liquified state during sterilization and a solid state during the formation of the scaffold, the seeding of the cultivated cells, and the cellular growth phase. The scaffold is capable of remaining in the final product for consumption or is partially or completely melted out of the final product and recycled into raw material for forming new scaffolds.
METHOD OF COLLECTING FINE PARTICLES, MICROCHIP FOR SORTING FINE PARTICLES, DEVICE FOR COLLECTING FINE PARTICLES, METHOD OF PRODUCING EMULSION, AND EMULSION
Provided is a new method for more efficiently generating emulsion particles each containing one fine particle.
The present technology provides a method of collecting fine particles, in which in a fine particle sorting mechanism having a channel structure including a main channel through which the fine particles flow, a collection channel into which particles to be collected are collected from among the fine particles, a connection channel that connects the main channel and the collection channel, and a liquid supply channel connected to the connection channel so as to supply a liquid, the method includes: a flow step of causing a first liquid containing the fine particles to flow through the main channel; a determination step of determining whether or not the fine particles flowing through the main channel are the particles to be collected; and a collection step of collecting the particles to be collected into the collection channel, and, in the collection step, the particles to be collected are collected into a second liquid that is immiscible with the first liquid in the collection channel while being contained in the first liquid.
Cell separation device, method and system
Cell separation systems, and methods for separating cells from microcarriers, and harvesting the separated cells, are provided, wherein the system comprises a cell separation device, a cell settling device, and a cell screening device.
Filter Apparatus and Method for Purifying Biological Processes and Cell Populations
A filter apparatus is disclosed for withdrawing a fluid medium from a bioreactor during the growth of a cell culture within the bioreactor. Also disclosed is a method for culturing cells in a bioreactor. The filter apparatus includes a hollow tubular member attached to a filter member. The filter member has a pore size and volume capable of withdrawing a fluid medium at a relatively high flow rate from the bioreactor. Without withdrawing biological cells from the bioreactor and without damaging or harming the cells. The filter apparatus of the present disclosure allows for many process improvements.
PARTICLES FOR USE IN ACOUSTIC PROCESSES
Microparticles and nanoparticles made of various materials that are used in various configurations are disclosed. The particles may be perfluorocarbon droplets with a lipid coating. The particles may be used in an acoustic cell selection process. The droplets are highly acoustically responsive and can be retained against fluid flow by an acoustic field. Such particles can be used in the separation, segregation, differentiation, modification or filtration of a system.
FLUIDIC PROCESSING WORKSTATION
A workstation for processing particles entrained in a fluid includes a consumable portion and a reusable portion. The consumable portion is mounted to the reusable portion to form a fluid chamber in which an acoustic wave can be generated. The consumable portion implements a closed, isolated fluid environment that is managed using components of the reusable portion, such as valves, sensors and pumps. The workstation can be operated to retain particles from the fluid via the acoustic wave and provide a new fluid media to the retained particles. Following processing, the consumable portion can be removed and discarded.
Instruments for processing cells
Disclosed herein is an instrument suitable for processing cells for example culturing, concentrating or washing said cells, the instrument comprising: a housing for accommodating mechanical elements including at least one fluid pump; and a disposable processing kit complementary to the mechanical elements within the housing and comprising a fluid circuit including a fluid reservoir and plural fluid paths capable of carrying fluid flow caused by said pump(s), the instrument further including a mechanism for determining the quantity, or change in quantity of the fluid in the reservoir resulting from said fluid flow, the instrument yet further comprising a controller operable to control at least the pump and operable to perform a fault determination process, which includes the steps of determining the expected flow rate of said pump(s) calculated from the speed of the pump(s) and comparing that expected flow with the change in quantity of the fluid in the reservoir as determined by said mechanism.
