There is described a continuous process for producing and isolating mycoprotein. The process may comprise the steps of: providing a fermentation media suitable for producing mycoprotein; introducing the fermentation media to a first fermentation vessel; fermenting the fermentation media to obtain a mixture comprising mycoprotein and partially spent fermentation media; isolating at least part of the partially spent fermentation media from the mixture comprising mycoprotein and partially spent fermentation media; and reintroducing at least a portion of the isolated partially spent fermentation media into the first fermentation vessel. Also described is mycoprotein obtained from the process.

A fusion protein, an amino acid sequence thereof, a coding nucleotide sequence thereof, a preparation method thereof and a use thereof are in the technical field of agricultural biotechnology. The fusion protein contains or consists of at least three, four, five, six, seven, or eight same and/or different PAMP (Pathogen-Associated Molecular Pattern) polypeptides. Optionally, there is at least one linker or no linker between two adjacent PAMP polypeptides. A plurality of PAMP polypeptides are assembled into the fusion protein having multiple immune epitopes. The fusion protein may induce defense immune responses of plants, weaken infestation ability of pathogenic microorganisms and substantially improve the disease resistance of plants. The method for preparing the fusion protein combines technologies of PTI (PAMP-Triggered Immunity) mechanism and gene engineering to obtain the fusion protein having multiple immune epitopes can be used in preparation of plant immune PAMP polypeptides.

Described herein are recombinant edible filamentous fungal strain comprising a genetic modification of a gene in a mycotoxin biosynthesis pathway and methods to produce such recombinant edible filamentous fungal strains. Such recombinant strains comprise reduced levels of mycotoxins. Also described are food materials comprising the recombinant edible filamentous fungal strains described herein, and methods to prepare them.

A novel method of growing fungi is disclosed which uses an engineered artificial media and produces high density filamentous fungi biomats that can be harvested with a minimum of processing and from which fungal products such as antibiotics, proteins, and lipids can be isolated, the method resulting in lowered fungus cultivation costs for energy usage, oxygenation, water usage and waste stream production.

An edible mass comprising fungal particles of a filamentous fungus which can more readily be used in production of sweet products and/or has reduced mushroom taste whilst maintaining desired nutritional attributes is described. The mass may include relatively low levels of acetyl-glutamic acid, uridine, inosine, guanosine, UMP, GMP, AMP, sodium, potassium and/or ammonium.
