METHOD FOR PRODUCING TREHANGELIN
An object of the present invention is to provide enzymes and a DNA encoding the enzymes that are involved in biosynthesis of trehangelin which has the potential to be a therapeutic agent for photosensitivity disorder and cosmetics, and to provide a method for producing trehangelin by utilizing the enzymes and a recombinant microorganism. The present invention is directed to a protein having an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3, 5, 7 or 9, or a protein having an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3, 5, 7 or 9 in which one to several amino acids are deleted, substituted, added and/or inserted or an amino acid sequence having 60% or more homology with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3, 5, 7 or 9 and having an enzyme activity involved in biosynthesis of trehangelin; and a DNA encoding said protein.
RECOMBINANT MICROORGANISMS AND USES THEREFOR
Microorganisms are genetically engineered to produce various chemicals for industrial use. The microorganisms are carboxydotrophic acetogens. The microorganisms produce acetyl-CoA using the Wood-Ljungdahl Pathway for fixing CO/CO.sub.2. A reverse beta-oxidation pathway cycle from a microorganism that contains such a group of enzymes is introduced. Additionally, primers and extenders, and/or genes encoding for enzymes that generate primers and extenders may also be introduced. Product synthesis can be effected by improved promoters or enzyme designs that are catalytically more efficient. Similarly, product synthesis may also be improved by deleting competing reactions.

Fatty acid productivity
The present disclosure relates to an engineered microbe capable of improved productivity of fatty acid or fatty acid derivative. An NAD.sup.+-dependent 3-oxoacyl-ACP reductase or NAD.sup.+-dependent 3-oxoacyl-CoA reductase replaces or supplements the native NADP.sup.+-dependent 3-oxoacyl-ACP reductase so as to utilize the higher availability of NAD.sup.+ rather than NADP.sup.+ in the cell. Higher production, yield and titer of fatty acids are therefore obtained. Such microbes can be combined with other mutations to further improve yield of fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives.
