Article and method of manufacturing the same
An article and a method of manufacturing the article is disclosed. The method includes providing the article including a substrate and a coating at least partially disposed on the substrate. The coating includes an outer surface. The coating further includes platinum and chromium. The method further includes applying cold work to the outer surface of the coating to produce a cold-worked layer extending from the outer surface of the coating to a cold work depth. The cold-worked layer includes approximately 45% cold work. The cold work depth is between about 30 microns to about 150 microns from the outer surface of the coating.
SUPERALLOY AIRCRAFT PART COMPRISING A COOLING CHANNEL
A part includes a substrate made of a nickel-based superalloy, the substrate having a first average mass fraction of one or more first elements chosen from hafnium, silicon and chromium, the substrate having an open cavity in the part and a cooling channel, the substrate further including a surface layer partially forming the cavity, the surface layer having a second average mass fraction of the first element or first elements which is greater than the first average mass fraction.
COATED PART COMPRISING A PROTECTIVE COATING BASED ON MAX PHASES
A coated part includes a metallic substrate, a thermal barrier comprising a ceramic material and covering the metallic substrate, wherein the coated part further includes a protective coating covering the thermal barrier, the protective coating including, in a first region, a first MAX phase, denoted PZ2, of formula (Zr.sub.xTi.sub.1-x,).sub.2AlC or a first MAX phase, denoted PC2, of formula (Cr.sub.xTi.sub.1-x,).sub.2AlC with x non-zero and less than or equal to 1 in the MAX phases PZ2 and PC2, and the protective coating includes, in a second region covering the first region, a second MAX phase of formula Ti.sub.2AlC.
COATING PROCESS FOR APPLYING A BIFURCATED COATING
A coating process for applying a bifurcated coating to an article is disclosed including applying an aluminizing slurry to a first portion of the article, applying a chromizing slurry to a second portion of the article, and simultaneously heat treating the article, the aluminizing slurry, and the chromizing slurry. Heat treating the aluminizing slurry forms an aluminide coating on the first portion of the article and an aluminide diffusion zone between the article and the aluminide coating. Heat treating the chromizing slurry forms a chromide coating on the second portion of the article and a chromide diffusion zone between the article and the chromide coating. The first portion and the second portion are both maintained in an unmasked state while applying the aluminizing slurry and the chromizing slurry and during the heat treating.
Slurry and a coating method
A slurry and a coating method are provided. The slurry includes, by weight, between 10% and 40% metal powder, between 10% and 15% activator, between 10% and 20% adhesive, between 10% and 20% thickener, up to 30% ceramic, and up to 25% binder. The coating method includes providing a slurry including, by weight, between 10% and 40% metal powder, between 10% and 15% activator, between 10% and 20% adhesive, between 10% and 20% thickener, up to 30% ceramic, and up to 25% organic polymer binder, providing a substrate, applying the slurry over a surface of the substrate to form a slurry coating, drying the slurry coating over the substrate, baking the substrate and the slurry coating, and curing the slurry coating over the substrate. The curing the slurry coating over the substrate transfers metal elements of the metal powder in the slurry to the substrate to form a coating on the substrate.
METHOD FOR ALTERING SURFACE OF METAL, AND METALLIC PRODUCT
Provide a metal surface reforming method enabling metallic products with superior characteristics such as surface hardness, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature oxidation, high temperature corrosion, and environmental corrosion and the like.
Halogenation treatment of heating and retaining a base material in an atmosphere containing a halogen based gas is performed on a base material of iron based metal or nickel based metal, then nitride processing of heating and retaining the halogenated base material described above in an atmosphere containing a nitrogen source gas is performed, then chromizing treatment is performed by placing the nitrided base material in a powder containing metal chromium powder to form a surface reformed layer on the base material described above. These metallic products obtained have high hardness, superior heat resistance and corrosion resistance, and exhibit superior performance in high temperature oxidation, high temperature corrosion, erosion, and cavitation and the like environments. Further, the metallic products described above exhibit superior performance in acid or alkali environments, neutral environments, and corrosive environments such as chlorides like salt water.
Coating system for internally-cooled component and process therefor
A method of coating includes applying a metallic coating slurry without a filler to a component; draining the metallic coating slurry; drying the metallic coating slurry to drive off the organic binder; and heat treating the component.
