Polymers for additive manufacturing
Porous and microporous parts prepared by additive manufacturing as disclosed herein are useful in medical and non-medical applications. The parts are prepared from a composition containing both a solvent soluble component and a solvent insoluble component. After a part is printed by an additive manufacturing process it is exposed to solvent to extract solvent soluble component away from the printed part, resulting in a part having surface cavities.
SUSTAINABLE TIRE WASTE AEROGEL WITH TUNABLE FLEXIBILITY MADE FROM RECYCLED TIRES FOR AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS
A method of manufacturing an elastic polymer aerogel material includes dissolving tire waste, the tire waste including natural rubber, synthetic polymers, steel, fillers, and curing systems, in a solvent to form a first mixture and dissolving a polymer having at least one double carbon-carbon bond in the solvent to form a second mixture. The first mixture and the second mixture are combined, wherein the tire waste reacts with the polymer having at least one double carbon-carbon bond to form a reactant gel. The reactant gel undergoes a solvent exchange followed by freeze drying to form the elastic polymer aerogel material, wherein the elastic polymer aerogel material defines a 3D porous structure.

BIO-BASED SYNTHETIC FABRICS AND PREPARATION METHODS THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a fabric, a preparation method thereof and clothing formed therefrom. The preparation method includes the following steps: obtaining bio-based synthetic fiber chips from textile waste materials; obtaining extruded filaments from the bio-based synthetic fiber chips by adopting a spinning solution; and weaving and interlocking the extruded filaments with bio-based elastic fibers to obtain the fabric. The prepared fabric is obtained from the textile waste materials, so that waste recycling is realized, and the pollution of the textile wastes to the environment is avoided. The spinning solution is adopted in the preparation process of the fabric, so that the opacity and hydrophilicity of the fabric can be enhanced.
COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING DRAGLINE SPIDER SILK
Compositions comprising at least one major ampullate spidroin protein (MaSp)-based fiber, a polymer bound to the MaSp-based fiber, and optionally a further polymer having a molecular weight in the range of 1000 Da to 1000 kDa, are provided. Further, methods for preparation of same are provided.
SURFACE-TREATED COMPACTED MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a process for producing a compacted material comprising the steps of providing a powder material and a polymer binder, simultaneously or subsequently feeding the powder material and the polymer binder into a high speed mixer unit, mixing the powder material and the polymer binder in the high speed mixer unit until formation of a compacted material, and reducing the temperature of the obtained compacted material below the melting point or glass transition temperature of the polymer binder.
