System and method for fibrogram fiber quality evaluation
Disclosed is a system and method for extraction of information of within sample distribution of fiber quality from high-volume instrument (HVI) fibrogram to better predict yarn quality than the standard HVI output. The present invention allows for information on fiber quality to be obtained while avoiding testing samples with more expensive techniques. The disclosed system and method extracts HVI data for collecting a respective set of initial fibrograms from a set of fiber samples and representing them as a distance matrix to form a matrix of transformed fibrogram data, said matrix of transformed fibrogram data comprising a vector of scores to represent each sample and thereafter explaining variation in yarn quality by extracting all of the information available from the fibrogram.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A SPINNING STATION OF A ROTOR SPINNING MACHINE AND ROTOR SPINNING MACHINE
A method for operating a spinning station of a rotor spinning machine includes monitoring the yarn being and upon detection of a yarn defect, stopping the spinning station and removing the yarn defect. The method specifies a certain produced yarn length or a certain time interval of yarn production and a maximum number of yarn defects within the produced yarn length or time interval. Upon detecting and exceeding a maximum number of yarn defects within the produced yarn length or the time interval, a mechanical cleaning of the spinning rotor is carried out. Alternately, a certain minimum produced yarn length or a certain minimum time interval between two yarn defects is specified and the produced yarn length or time between detection of the yarn defects is recorded. Upon undershooting the minimum produced yarn length or minimum time interval between yarn defects, the mechanical cleaning of the spinning rotor is performed.
SPINNING UNIT AND AIR JET SPINNING MACHINE HAVING SUCH A SPINNING UNIT
An air jet spinning machine, air jet spinning machine for producing a thread from a fed sliver, and method for detecting a thread strength, which falls below a target value, of a thread produced at a spinning unit of an airjet spinning machine are provided. A thread manipulation unit is arranged in the region between the airjet spinning machine and the spooling device, which thread manipulation unit acts mechanically on the thread and exerts an adjustable thread tension influencing force, in particular an adjustable braking force, compression force and/or clamping force, onto the thread in order to variably increase thread tension. In the method, an adjustable thread tension influencing force is exerted onto the thread, and a thread breakage and/or thread breakage rate are/is detected and compared with a specified target rate, and thread breakage and/or deviations of thread breakage rate beyond a predetermined limit value are displayed and/or evaluated.

AUTOMATED YARN PACKAGE HANDLING SYSTEM AND METHOD
An apparatus and method of automatically moving yarn packages between yarn processing stations in a textile environment that includes the steps of providing a yarn package elevator, transporting a yarn package on the yarn package elevator from a textile machine position to a common transfer location, and holding the package in a stationary position on an elevator tray. A label is applied to a surface of the package and the elevator tray and package is moved to a knot-tying location, the package is removed from the elevator tray to a knotting head apparatus at the knot-tying location and a knot is tied in a package yarn tail of the package to secure the package tail from unraveling in subsequent package handling steps. Correct application of the knot to the yarn tail is either validated, or in the alternative, if the knot is not validated, the package is forwarded to a location for manual reworking to apply a correct knot to the yarn tail.
