METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING A YARN
A method of producing at least one yarn formed by spinning at least two individual fibers, comprising the following steps: providing at least two individual fibers, to be spun to form the at least one yarn to be produced, feeding the at least two provided fibers to a spinning device comprising at least one spindle element or bobbin element via a guide device comprising a plurality of, in particular cylinder-like or cylindrical, guide elements, spinning the fed fibers in the spinning device, forming the at least one yarn to be produced, wherein the at least two fibers are fed to the spinning device via at least two separate, in particular cylinder-like or cylindrical, guide elements that are arranged such that they are spatially separated from one another in at least one spatial direction.
Filament count reduction for carbon fiber tow
A process and apparatus for separating a carbon filament tow into a set of reduced filament count bundles. The process includes feeding a tow of carbon filaments into a guide array, mechanically splitting the tow within the guide array into filament bundles, removing a coating from the filament bundles, feeding the filament bundles into a guide pin assembly to separate the filament bundles with a reduced filament count from one another, applying a false twist to the filament bundles to loosen individual filaments then recombining the individual filaments of each filament bundle into a re-bundled ribbon. Coatings may be applied to each re-bundled ribbon prior to winding each re-bundled ribbon onto a take-up.
MULTINUCLEUS YARN WITH IMPROVED FIBRE DISTRIBUTION AND TERRY FABRIC PRODUCED FROM THE YARN
The present invention provides for a multinucleus yarn manufactured with uniform or substantially uniform distribution of packing density throughout the cross-section of the yarn. The present invention also provides for Terry fabrics (e.g.) towels produced from the manufactured yarn which exhibits enhanced stability of loop structures formed in the towel. Further, the yarn manufactured in accordance with various embodiments of the present invention may also be used for other fabrics for apparels, denims, bed sheets and other end uses as a superior yarn is produced in terms of strength, evenness, hairiness and imperfections.
