ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIVE BI-COMPONENT META FIBER TEXTILES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE

A bimorph meta fiber is formed through spinning of two antagonistic polymer melts, one of which contains pre-compounded optical nanostructures, into an eccentric sheath-core configuration or a side-by-side key-lock configuration. The bimorph meta fiber is capable of an adaptive regulation of the infrared radiation responsive to humidity level deviation from a comfort zone or perspiration level of the wearer of the garment fabricated from the meta fibers. The bimorph meta fibers are humidity/heat trained to attain dynamical environmentally responsive behavior to maintain the humidity/thermal comfort zone at various the humidity level fluctuations.

COMPOSITE NYLON AND POLYESTER WOVEN FABRIC

A ripstop woven fabric woven from a combination of nylon yarn and polyester yarn. The nylon yarn forms between 40% to 80% of the woven fabric while the polyester yarn forms between 20% to 60% of the finished woven fabric. The fabric may be woven in a ripstop pattern. The face side of the ripstop fabric may be coated with one or more of a durable water repellent (DWR) and silicone coating, while the back side of the ripstop fabric is coated with a polyurethane coating. The ripstop fabric has an uncoated fabric weight range of between 23 and 40 GSM while the ripstop fabric has a coated fabric weight range of between 29 and 50 GSM.

Fabrics containing conformable low density fluoropolymer fiber blends

Fabrics containing hydrophilic expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) fibers and at least one non-ePTFE fiber are provided. The fabric provides a combination of high breathability and controlled moisture management. In exemplary embodiments, the fabric may be a woven, knit, or fleece fabric. The fabrics contain at least 15% ePTFE fibers based on the final fabric. The hydrophilic ePTFE fibers in the fabrics may be used to control moisture such as water vapor, liquid water, or sweat within the fabric by storing the moisture within the hydrophilic ePTFE fiber network. Also, little to none of the moisture remains on the outside of the hydrophilic ePTFE fibers, making the fabric feel dry even where there is moisture therein. A polymer membrane and/or a textile may be laminated to the fabric to produce a laminated article.

SILK-LIKE WOVEN GARMENT CONTAINING OR CONSISTING OF LYOCELL FILAMETS

Silk woven fabric is known and renowned for its touch. The drawback of silk, however, is its price, its poor washability, and low resistance against certain chemical treatments. It is therefore the object of the invention to provide a silk-like woven fabric which overcomes these problems. According to the invention, this problem is solved by providing a silk-like woven fabric (2) made from weft yarns (4) and warp yarns (6), wherein at least one of the weft yarns (4) and the warp yarns (6) contains or consists of lyocell filaments (8). Especially twisted lyocell filament yarns are used, the resulting material has a touch comparable to silk and physical properties that are equal to or even surpass those of silk. Moreover, the lyocell filament yarns (4, 6) may have a higher twist than silk yarns, other cellulose yarns, or synthetic yarns.
