Upper for an article of footwear having two yarn types
An upper for an article of footwear may include a first area and a second area. The first area may be located on at least one of a lateral and a medial side of the upper, where the first area includes a plurality of first knit courses, and at least a majority of the first knit courses are at least partially formed by a first yarn. The second area may be located adjacent to the first area, where the second area extends through at least one of a lateral side and a medial side of a throat area of the upper. The second area may include a plurality of second knit courses and at least a majority of the second knit courses are formed by a second yarn. The second yarn may have a tenacity of at least 5 g/D. The first yarn may have a tenacity of less than 5 g/D, in some embodiments.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A KNITTED FABRIC COMPRISING A VERTICAL YARN FILAMENT
A method for manufacturing a knitted fabric embodying a basic knit, into which at least one functional yarn filament, such as an electrically conductive yarn filament, is incorporated as a vertical yarn filament (F3). The basic knit is formed from a first and a second yarn (F1, F2) using a plaiting technique. The vertical yarn filament (F3) is incorporated by a third yarn carrier (FF3) positioned, on a third yarn carrier rail located between respective yarn carrier rails for the first and the second yarn carriers (FF1, FF2), at a location at which the vertical yarn filament (F3) is to be incorporated. During formation of a sequence of stitch rows (MR1-MR7) using the first and second yarns (F1, F2), the first yarn (F1) is guided over the vertical yarn filament (F3) on a front side of the knitted fabric and the second yarn (F2) is guided over the vertical yarn filament (F3) on a back side of the knitted fabric.
Footwear having therapeutic light source
An article of footwear is configured to be worn so as to at least partially cover a wearer's foot. The footwear includes at least one optical fiber on an internal surface of the footwear. The at least one optical fiber is configured to project radiation having a therapeutic wavelength through the at least one optical fiber and toward at least one of the wearer's foot, ankle or leg when the footwear is being worn so as to at least partially cover the wearer's foot.
Composite textile structure for sensing, activation, and signal network
Embodiments of the disclosure provide structures for sensing, activation, and signal networking in a composite textile. According to one embodiment, a composite textile can comprise an activation layer of a reactive yarn knit into a fabric. The reactive yarn can have at least one physical property that changes in response to a stimulus. A signaling layer of a first conductive yarn can be knit into the fabric with the activation layer. The first conductive yarn provides the stimulus to the reactive yarn. A sensing layer comprising second conductive yarn can be knit into the fabric with the activation layer and signaling layer. The second conductive yarn can provide a feedback signal corresponding to the stimulus provided by the first conductive yarn of the signaling layer.
Sole system for an article of footwear incorporating a knitted component with a one-piece knit outsole and a tensile element
An article of footwear including a sole system, including an upper and the sole system. The sole system includes a knitted component incorporating a one-piece knit outsole. The knit outsole has a ground-facing side, a top side, an inlaid tensile element, and a ground-engaging cleat member protruding from the ground-facing side of the knit outsole. The tensile element may be adjacent a cleat member. The upper is connected at its bottom to the top side of the knit outsole.
KNITTED COMPONENT WITH INLAID CUSHIONING
A knitted component may include a knit element with a first surface and an opposite second surface. An inlaid yarn may extend through the knit element and between the first surface and the second surface. A secured area where the first surface and the second surface are secured together may be included, where the inlaid yarn is secured by loops forming the first surface and the second surface. A cushioning area may be included, where the cushioning area has a tubular construction such that the first surface and the second surface are separable, forming a cavity therebetween, and where the inlaid yarn extends through the cavity formed between the first surface and the second surface.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR INCORPORATING A KNITTED COMPONENT
An article of footwear may include an upper incorporating a knitted component. An inlaid strand extends through the knitted component. A combination feeder may be utilized to inlay the strand within the knitted component. As an example, the combination feeder may include a feeder arm that reciprocates between a retracted position and an extended position. In manufacturing the knitted component, the feeder inlays the strand when the feeder arm is in the extended position, and the strand is absent from the knitted component when the feeder arm is in the retracted position.
Knitted tensile structures
A knit component may include a knit-in tensile area, which may include an opening at least partially bounded by a first intersecting portion and a second intersecting portion. A course of tensile material that is integrally knitted with the first intersecting portion via a knit stitch may include a float extending from the first intersecting portion, across the opening, to the second intersecting portion. A knitting method may knit courses of the knit component on needle beds and then widen and/or narrow parts of the opening by transferring stitches of one of the courses of the knit component to different needles.
Knitted component with inlaid cushioning
A knitted component may include a knit element with a first surface and an opposite second surface. An inlaid yarn may extend through the knit element and between the first surface and the second surface. Article of footwear incorporating a knitted component
An article of footwear may include an upper incorporating a knitted component. An inlaid strand extends through the knitted component.
