According to one embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a home appliance comprising: a cabinet; an object receiving chamber defined in the cabinet to receive an object therein; a door pivotally coupled to the cabinet to open and close the object receiving chamber, wherein the door has a see-through window; a lighting device for illuminating an interior of the object receiving chamber; a sensor disposed in the door for detecting an acoustic wave, wherein the acoustic wave is generated by an application of a knock input to the door; and a controller configured to activate the lighting device upon detecting the knock input, such that the object receiving chamber may be visible to an outside through the see-through window.
