The compositions optionally comprise at least one of a defoamer, a coalescent agent, a preservative, a co-emulsifier, chain extender, crosslinker and a rheology modifier. The compositions are useful for application to induce hydrophobicity to inorganic, organic or fiber based materials without undesirable backwetting or re-wetting effects.

The method includes steps of applying a coating agent to a textured surface region of a textured substrate, applying a fibre furnish or a wet fibrous web onto the coated textured surface region of the textured substrate, optionally dewatering to provide a wet fibrous web, and drying said wet fibrous web such that at least a portion of said coating agent is transferred to said fibrous web. The method provides a coated fibrous web with improved barrier properties.

The present application relates to a sizing agent composition, a carbon fiber material and a composite material. The sizing agent composition comprises specific compositions, thereby producing a sizing agent having emulsion droplets with specific diameter. The sizing agent has excellent emulsion stability, and it can efficiently improve hygroscopicity and dimensional stability of the carbon fiber material. Besides, the sizing agent can improve bonding properties between the carbon fiber material and resin matrix, therefore enhancing properties of the composite material.

An elastic fiber of the present invention having an elastic fiber treatment agent attached to the fiber surface, comprises: a hydrocarbon resin (A) having a structure in which a polymer including a structural unit whose monomer is at least one selected from aromatic olefins and aliphatic diolefins as the main structural unit is partially or fully hydrogenated; and a hydrocarbon oil (B). In this way, an elastic fiber and a fiber structure comprising the same are provided that are suitable for obtaining an elastic sheet that has excellent elastic fiber unraveling properties and adhesiveness to hot melt adhesives, and that exhibits good adhesiveness even when processed at a high draft, and for obtaining a sanitary product that is soft to the touch.
