Partially or fully non-combustible and vapour permeable pliable building membrane and associated methods
The pliable building membrane 1 is a non-flammable inorganic fabric 2 defining a first planar side 4 and a second opposite planar side 5. A halocarbon polymer in the form of a fluorocarbon polymer 3 is impregnated into the first planar side 4. The halocarbon polymer may be polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), fluorin plastic, ethylene tetrafluoroethylene and/or a tetrafluoroethylene perfluoro propylene co-polymer, for example. Various embodiments have differing ratios of halocarbon polymer to non-flammable fabric and this influences its vapour permeability. A suitable minimum target vapour permeability is approximately 0.15 μg/N.Math.s. An embodiment having a 1:1 ratio has a vapour permeability of approximately 1 μg/N.Math.s, which is well suited for use as a sarking-type material. The non-flammable fabric 2 may be a satin-weave fiberglass fabric or other non-flammable fabrics, such as basalt fibre fabric, or carbon fibre fabric, for example.

High strength polyvinylidene fluoride composite
The invention relates to fluoropolymer composites having a fluoropolymer matrix containing a functionalized fluoropolymer composition, and reinforced with fibers. The fibers can be chopped fibers, long fibers, or a mixture thereof, and the fluoropolymer matrix preferably is based on polyvinylidene fluoride. Any type of fibers, sized or unsized may be used with the functionalized fluoropolymer matrix composition to form the fluoropolymer composite.

Fiber forming compositions, fibers and methods for production
Compositions especially suitable for forming fibers and films having good elasticity and relatively high modulus are disclosed. Surprisingly, compositions including a styrenic block copolymer having a relatively high melt flow rate, and a detackifier, and optionally, but preferably in some embodiments a polyolefin (co)polymer, and/or polystyrene polymer, and/or a softener have good draw down performance and are processable into fibers having low tack, relatively high modulus and tensile strength. The fibers produced from the composition can be processed easily and are useful to manufacture articles such as fabrics, both woven and non-woven, webs, threads, and yarns. In various embodiments, unique fiber structures are produced having low tack and desirable elasticity.
