NON-REWETTING O/W (OIL IN WATER) EMULSIFICATION SYSTEM FOR HYDROPHOBIC COMPOUNDS
An emulsified liquid composition is disclosed comprising a hydrophobic phase, an emulsifying composition of a protonated amide and a protonated amine having defined carbon to nitrogen atom molar ratios and water. The compositions optionally comprise at least one of a defoamer, a coalescent agent, a preservative, a co-emulsifier, chain extender, crosslinker and a rheology modifier. The compositions are useful for application to induce hydrophobicity to inorganic, organic or fiber based materials without undesirable backwetting or re-wetting effects.
Synthetic leather and method for producing the same
A synthetic leather comprising a substrate, a skin layer that is disposed on one main surface of the substrate, and an anti-stain layer that is disposed to cover the skin layer. The anti-stain layer contains a base resin that comprises silicon and a unit derived from a compound that has a urethane bond. In the anti-stain layer, a fluorine atom/silicon atom atomic ratio, which is a proportion of a fluorine atom to the silicon atom, is 0.01 or less. A first color difference ΔE1* between before and after a stain adhesion test performed on the synthetic leather rubbed under a specific condition is 5 or less.
POLYMERS FOR HYDROPHOBIC AND OLEOPHOBIC TEXTILE FINISHING
An aqueous emulsion contains a copolymer having three components: a) to c). Component a) has at least one biuret or isocyanurate substructure. Component b) is selected from polysiloxanes and polyhydrocarbons, preferably polysiloxanes. Component c) contains a hydrocarbon which is different from component b) and has at least 6 carbon atoms and not more than 3 heteroatoms selected from N, O, and S. Component b) is joined to 2 different or identical components a) via at least two positions.
A TEXTILE PRODUCT AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE TEXTILE PRODUCT
Provided are a textile product capable of firmly fixing a functional material onto the surface thereof and having excellent washing durability, and a method for producing the textile product, being capable of efficiently producing the textile product. Provided is a textile product including: a textile base material; a surface treatment layer formed of a silane coupling agent on at least a part of the surface of the textile base material; and a zirconium phosphate layer fixed on the surface treatment layer, wherein the silane coupling agent includes a silane compound having an amino group.
NONFLUORINATED HYDROPHOBIC WATERBORNE TREATMENTS AND COATINGS
The present invention relates generally to methods of producing, using, and storing stable aqueously dispersed superhydrophobic compositions made from these compositions to provide superhydrophobic treatments on a range of porous, semi-porous, and non-porous target materials and surfaces as well as combinations of these materials and surfaces. More particularly, the present invention provides stably dispersed waterborne superhydrophobic compositions comprising colloidal silica or hydrophobically-modified silicon dioxide (i.e., silica) and one or more additional agents and/or compounds. When the compositions of the present invention are applied (e.g., via spray deposition, immersion, liquid application, and the like) to a suitable target material and/or surface the target is imparted with a durable (super)hydrophobic coating.
Method for making fluorocarbon free emulsions without using traditional surfactants/emulsifiers by emulsifying alkoxysilanes or other non-water soluble hydrophobizing agents using amino functional siloxanes and the uses thereof
The present invention relates to an improved emulsified composition comprising a) —one or more amino functional siloxanes of the formula I b) —one or more hydrolysable alkyl silans of the formula II c) an acid d) water e) a defoamer f) a coalescent agent and optionally one or more of a preservative, co-emulsifier, catalyst, rheology modifier, fatty acid, oil and/or wax,
the process of preparing it and the application method of enhancing the water repellence of an inorganic, organic or fiber based materials and/or enhancing the said materials ability to repel water soluble dirt, as well as an apparatus for use in said method.
Quantitative detection of non-fluorine anti-soil using a fluorescent trace indicator
A method for quantitatively and indirectly measuring non-fluorine anti-soil chemistry in carpet applications, is based on a known amount of FI trace to be added along with anti-soil chemistry in formulation prior to application to a carpet surface. The anti-soil chemistry with the trace amount of FI is then applied to the carpet through a topical foam or spray applicator during a precoating process. After completion of the precoat process, a carpet sample is collected, carpet face fiber is shaved, and FI is extracted using water. The extracted water solution is used to measure the fluorescence intensity (in counts per second or “CPS”) using a Fluorimeter.
LAMINATED LIGHT-BLOCKING DECORATIVE ARTICLES
Laminated light-blocking decorative articles are prepared by applying an aqueous foamed opacifying composition to a non-woven fabric, drying, laminating a decorative fabric to the resulting dry foamed opacifying layer, and densifying that layer to have a thickness that is at least 20% less than before densifying. This operation can be carried out so that non-woven fabric, decorative fabric, and aqueous foamed opacifying composition are supplied in a single-pass, in-line operation to make any desired quantity of a laminated light-blocking decorative article. The applied aqueous foamed opacifying composition has 35%-70% solids and a foam density of 0.1-0.5 g/cm.sup.3. It is composed of (a) porous particles, (b) a binder material, (c) two or more additives comprising at least one foaming surfactant and at least one foam stabilizer, (d) an aqueous medium, and (e) at least 0.0001 weight % of an opacifying colorant that absorbs electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of 380-800 nm.
COATING OF TEXTILE MATERIALS
The present invention comprises the coating and modification of textile materials in order to provide them with water-repellent properties. The object of the invention was to hydrophobize textiles loaded with metal oxide, wherein the hydrophobing agent presented here is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, adhering to the metal oxide surface considerably more stably and without the use of additional dispersants and binders, which also takes environmental aspects into account. The object is achieved by the use according to the invention of metal oxide particles and/or metal hydroxide particles of group IVB, IIB or IIIA or mixtures thereof, wherein said particles are present in a size range of 110 nm-10 μm, for the coating of textile materials and their treatment after application to the textile with phosphoric or phosphonic acid ester derivatives of the general form OP(OH).sub.2OR or OP(OH).sub.2R, wherein R is a hydrophobic residue in the form of aliphatic, branched or unbranched, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon groups having 5-40 carbon atoms.
