INTERIOR TRIM PART OF AN AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLE COMPRISING A VELVET FONT LAYER
20180009357 · 2018-01-11 ·

An interior trim part made by a method that includes the steps of bringing a fiber web onto a conveyor, needlepunching the fiber web to form a base in contact with the conveyor, and introducing a binder component on the base. The binder component introduced on the base is a thermoplastic polymer in solid form. The method includes a step for heating the base to cause the thermoplastic polymer making up the binder component to penetrate the base over a thickness smaller than the thickness of the base.

An artificial leather includes a resin layer as the surface and a base fabric connected to the resin layer as the substrate. The base fabric comprises at least two monolayer structures arranged in an orderly manner as two laminates. Each monolayer structure is woven with some of the warp yarns and/or weft yarns in such layer or with some of the warp yarns and/or weft yarns in one or more other layers to form a number of connecting points, such that at least two monolayer structures arranged in an orderly manner as two laminates are connected with each other in the weaving process, forming a multi-layer integrated base fabric. The artificial leather incorporates a number of air vent holes distributed in the resin layer and the base fabric in the direction of thickness while retaining mechanical properties of tensile strength and tear resistance.

The current invention concerns a covering, such as a floor covering, wall covering or ceiling covering, said covering comprising a surface layer, and a substrate layer attached to said surface layer, said substrate layer optionally comprising one or more reinforced thermoplastic layers. Said covering further comprises a backing layer on the bottom side of said substrate layer, opposite to said surface layer, and a textile layer attached to the bottom side of said backing layer, optionally through a contact layer. The covering further comprises a coating applied to the bottom of said textile layer. The invention also provides a method for producing a covering, such as a floor covering, wall covering or ceiling covering.

Low weight modular carpet components and methods of making the same

A low-weight carpet tile and process for making the same, wherein the carpet tile comprises a facecloth having a plurality of face yarns tufted through a primary backing, an extruded polymer secondary backing layer, and a reinforcing scrim layer partially embedded within the extruded polymer secondary backing layer. The top surface and bottom surface of the carpet tile are defined by the facecloth and the reinforcing scrim layer, respectively. A polymer-based resin is extruded onto the facecloth to form an at least substantially uniform secondary backing layer, and the reinforcing scrim layer is laid onto the extruded polymer secondary backing layer while the extruded polymer secondary backing layer remains above a softening temperature for the resin. The entire multi-layer web is then passed through a nip to embed the reinforcing scrim layer into the extruded polymer secondary layer, and the entire web is chilled.

Disclosure provides a twisted and heat-set Bulked Continuous side-by-side bi-component Filament (BCF) yarn including a plurality of side-by-side bi-component filaments, each includes first and second polymer components. The first polymer component forms a first side of the side-by-side bi-component filaments, and includes polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) in at least 25 and up to 75 volume percent of the filament in the BCF yarn. Further, the second polymer component forms a second side of the side-by-side bi-component filaments, and includes one of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polylactic acid (PLA) in at most 75 and down to 25 volume percent of the filament in the BCF yarn. The twisted and heat-set BCF yarn is obtained by a single-step continuous process, and subsequently followed by steps of twisting and/or cabling and heat-setting. The twisted and heat-set BCF yarn as obtained exhibits an elongation to break in a range of 40% to 65%, and floor covering manufactured from the yarn exhibits a Hexapod rating after 12000 cycles of more than 2.
