Biobased aqueous polyurethane dispersions

An aqueous polyurethane dispersion includes particles of polyurethane in water, wherein the polyurethane is derived from an organic diisocyanate, a hydrophilic monomer, a neutralizer, a chain extender, and a polyester resin, the polyester resin being a random copolymer having randomly distributed subunits of formula 1: ##STR00001##
where: R is ethylene, octylene, or decylene, a is from about 40 to about 100 mole % of the polyester resin, b is from 0 to about 30 mole % of the polyester resin, c is from 0 to about 30 mole % of the polyester resin, and a+b+c=100 mole % of the polyester resin.

SHEET MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a sheet-like article which has a good balance between soft texture and excellent light resistance; and a method for producing this sheet-like article. In order to achieve this purpose, a sheet-like article according to the present invention has the following configuration. Specifically, a sheet-like article which contains a polymer elastic body in a fibrous base material, wherein: the fibrous base material is composed of ultrafine fibers that have an average single fiber diameter of from 0.1 μm to 10 μm; the polymer elastic body has a hydrophilic group, while containing a polyether diol as a constituent; the polymer elastic body internally has an N-acylurea bond and/or an isourea bond; and the condition 1 and the condition 2 described below are satisfied. Condition 1: The bending resistance in the lengthwise direction as determined in accordance with specific standards is from 40 mm to 140 mm. Condition 2: The abrasion weight loss after 20,000 cycles of a Martindale abrasion test set forth in JIS L 1096 (2005) after a light resistance test as performed under the conditions defined in accordance with specific standards is 25 mg or less.

Stabilization of fabric surfaces

A textile fabric having improved properties, variously including surface stability, abrasion resistance, resistance to edge fraying, moisture control, and resistance to fluid penetration is created by introducing a polymeric solution or a plurality of low-melting particles suspended in a liquid into the textile fabric while leaving a plurality of surface fibers exposed and maintaining a textile feel on the surface.

NONWOVEN FABRIC FOR ORAL POUCHED PRODUCT, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING A NONWOVEN FABRIC

A nonwoven fabric for manufacturing an oral pouched product, where the nonwoven fabric is chewable to increase its liquid permeability. When the nonwoven fabric is used to form a pouch, it may thus control the release of substances from within the pouch. The nonwoven fabric can be formed by applying a diffusion restricting treatment to a base nonwoven fabric. The diffusion restricting treatment may include any of (a) incorporating a digestible compound; (b) incorporating a superabsorbent polymer; (c) incorporating a hydrophobic material; and (d) forming a deformable barrier layer.

The present invention is directed to a system and method for creating different bio-based, natural composite textile materials. In the system and method described herein, a non-woven fabric is used as a backing material upon which the bio-based, natural composite materials are applied in one or more coating layers, resulting in a bio-based and substantially biodegradable textile material that provides high performance in consumer industries, such as the footwear industry.

Fabric coated with functional silicone rubber

A fabric coated with functional silicone rubber, the fabric being configured such that a coating layer may not be easily separated from the fabric and may be used to form a power line or a signal line. The fabric includes: a woven fabric made by weaving and including uniform pores therein; and a coating layer formed by coating a surface of the woven fabric with liquid silicone rubber in which electrically conductive particles larger than the pores of the woven fabric are dispersed and mixed, wherein the liquid silicone rubber permeates into the pores of the woven fabric by the weight thereof and is cured such that the silicone rubber is anchored to the woven fabric, and an electrically conductive layer having electrical conductivity is formed as the electrically conductive particles are caught on the surface of the woven fabric and increase in density at the surface of the woven fabric.

HETEROPHASIC ANTI-FOULING, SOLVENT-BORNE POLYMERIC COATING HAVING A FLUORINATED CONTINUOUS PHASE WITH NON-FLUORINATED DOMAINS

An anti-fouling heterophasic thermoset polymeric coating is provided that includes a continuous phase and a discrete phase defining a plurality of domains distributed therein. Each domain has an average size of about 100 nm to about 5,000 nm. The continuous phase includes a fluorine-containing polymer component formed from a fluorine-containing polyol precursor having a functionality of greater than 2. The discrete phase includes a fluorine-free component. At least a portion of the fluorine-free component in the discrete phase is bonded together with a moiety selected from the group consisting of a nitrogen-containing moiety, an oxygen-containing moiety, an isocyanate-containing moiety, and a combination thereof. Methods of treating an article to form such anti-fouling heterophasic thermoset polymeric coating are provided, as are liquid precursors to form the coating.
