A coated microfibrous web, a method for producing the same, the use thereof as a covering of a radiation protection material, and a radiation protection device are described. The coated microfibrous web contains: (i) a microfibrous web containing one or more polyesters and/or one or more polyamides and/or one or more polyamide-polyester copolymers and having an impregnation composition containing (a) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, the dicarboxylic groups of which are each esterified with a diol, and/or (b) one or more oligomers, each containing 2 to 10 repeat units consisting of a monoester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid impregnated with a diol; and (ii) a layer comprising polyurethane which is present only on one side of the microfibrous web.

Flexible and foldable electromagnetic shielding

A flexible, foldable EM barrier attenuates electromagnetic radiation by at least 20 dB from 1 GHz to 30 GHz. The barrier includes an LF layer that blocks EM radiation at least at low frequencies, laminated to a textile support layer that reduces stress cracking of the LF layer and prevents widening of any cracks that do form. Embodiments further include an HF layer that blocks EM radiation at high frequencies, such as a metallized polymer film and/or an elastomer layer filled with conductive particles. The LF layer can be foil, mesh, or electroless metallization of the support textile or of another textile. A thermal insulation layer can be included. A topcoat can block UV, and primer layers can resist moisture. Barriers can be joined to each other and/or to adjacent structures by lanyards, webbing, sewing, soft connections, and/or flex joints formed by adhesively attached metallized textiles or films.

FLOOR CARPET WITH ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING

A floor carpet for an automobile comprises a first layer of polyester carpet pile, a second layer including an electromagnetic shield, the electromagnetic shield including a grid of conductive metal fibers molded into a matrix of thermoplastic material, and a third layer including a sound dampening backing made from one of wool and polyurethane, wherein, the first layer, second layer, and third layer are molded together as a unitary piece that is shaped to conform to the contour of a floor panel within an automobile and adapted to be immovably installed within the automobile, the electromagnetic shield extending across substantially all of the floor carpet to provide electromagnetic shielding across substantially the entire floor of the automobile.
