Recyclable single polymer floorcovering article
This invention relates to tufted floorcovering articles, including carpet tiles and broadloom carpet. In particular, this invention relates to tufted floorcovering articles made from the family of polymers known as polyester. Specifically, this invention relates to tufted carpet tile products made from polyester. The polyester carpet tiles meet commercial performance specifications and are fully end-of-life recyclable.
FLOOR COVERING WITH UNIVERSAL BACKING AND METHODS OF MAKING AND RECYCLING
A dimensionally stable universal floor covering includes a tufted textile having stitches and a reinforcement layer operatively connected to the stitches to provide dimensional stability for the entire floor covering. The reinforcement layer is made of fibers that are initially contained within a composition of adhesive and fibers. Mixing of the adhesive/fibers composition and/or injection of compressed air, assists in preparing the adhesive and fiber composition to be in the preferred condition and position prior to the forming of the reinforcement layer. Multiple sources of pressure, including vacuum, are applied in a controlled manner for moving the adhesive and fiber composition to form a reinforcement layer of fibers that is operatively connected to the stitches and/or to form a layer of fibers and adhesive that is contained within the stitches. The universal floor covering is selectively cut and transported in a roll for installation, and it can be conveniently recycled if necessary.
AQUEOUS, POLYVINYL ALCOHOL STABILIZED VINYL ACETATE-ETHYLENE-COPOLYMER DISPERSION HAVING HIGH FILLER COMPATIBILITY FOR CARPET COATING COMPOSITIONS
The invention relates to an aqueous vinyl acetate-ethylene-copolymer dispersion for carpet coating compositions, which is obtained by means of radical-initiated emulsion polymerization, in an aqueous medium, of vinyl acetate and ethylene and optionally additional ethylenically unsaturated comonomers, characterized in that, for stabilization of the dispersion, 5 to 10 wt %, based on the total weight of the comonomers, of one or a plurality of partially saponified and low-molecular polyvinyl alcohols having a hydrolysis degree of 80 to 95 mol % and a Höppler viscosity, in 4% aqueous solution, of 1 to 5 mPas (method according to Höppler at 20° C., DIN 53015) are contained.
TUFTED CARPET COMPRISING A SECONDARY CARPET BACKING
A tufted carpet including a tufted primary carpet backing, pile yarns tufted into the primary carpet backing, a secondary carpet backing adjoining to the primary carpet backing on the side of the primary carpet backing which exhibits backstitches and optionally a precoat and/or a polymer coat, wherein the secondary carpet backing including at least a reinforcement layer of fibers and the secondary carpet backing has an air permeability of at least 1000 l/m.sup.2.Math.s, measured according to ISO 9237:1995.

Specifically, this invention relates to tufted carpet tile products made from polyester. The polyester carpet tiles meet commercial performance specifications and are fully end-of-life recyclable.
Dispersion of Polyester Particles
The present invention pertains to a dispersion of polyester particles in an aqueous dispersion medium, wherein the particles have a number average particle size below 1000 nm, and wherein the polyester particles are composed of a polyester material that has a HLB (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) value between 7.6 and 10.5.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ARTIFICIAL TURF
The invention relates to method for producing an artificial turf, comprising the following steps: providing a carrier material having a top and a bottom, providing a plurality of fibres, wherein each fibre comprises two ends extending from the top of the carrier material and comprising a connected region arranged in a loop-like manner at the bottom of the carrier material; feeding the carrier material with the fibres to a heated rotating calender roller; guiding the carrier material with the fibres over at least one sub-region of the surface of the heated rotating calender roller, wherein the connected regions of the fibres and the bottom of the carrier material face the calender roller; during the guiding of the carrier material with the fibres over the at least one sub-region of the surface of the heated rotating calender roller: transferring heat from the heated rotating calender roller to the carrier material with the fibres, and fusing the connected regions of the fibres with the bottom of the carrier material to the artificial turf, and removing and cooling the artificial turf. The invention further relates to an artificial turf comprising: a carrier material having a top and a bottom; a plurality of fibres, wherein each fibre comprises two ends extending from the top of the carrier material and comprising a connected region arranged in a loop-like manner at the bottom of the carrier material, wherein the carrier material is fused at the bottom to the connected regions of the fibres.
Washable Floor Mat With Reinforcement Layer
This invention relates to a washable floor mat comprising a reinforcement layer. The floor mat includes a textile component and a base component. The textile component contains a reinforcement layer which dramatically reduces and/or eliminates edge deformation that often occurs as a result of the washing process. The textile component and the base component may be joined together to form a single piece floor mat. Alternatively, the textile component and the base component may be releasably attachable to one another by at least one surface attraction means to form a multi-component floor mat. The floor mat is designed to be soiled, washed, and re-used, thereby providing ideal end-use applications in areas such as building entryways.
