ROPE WITH RADIAL SEAM AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING
20230048525 · 2023-02-16 · ·

A rope comprises a core extending along a longitudinal axis and a sheath surrounding the core, the sheath extending along the longitudinal axis. A strap at least partially surrounds the sheath, the strap being separated from the core by the sheath. At least one thread passes several times through the strap, sheath and core to form several links fixedly securing the strap on the core and sheath. The links pass through a central section of the core, the central section corresponding to a circular section representing less than 50% of the cross-section of the core. The links are angularly offset from one another when observed along the longitudinal axis.

Rope edge protection system

A rope edge protection system having a rope protection mat and an edge protection mat in combination for the protection of rope. The rope protection mat is a generally rectangular sheet that can be secured in a sleeve-like configuration around a climbing rope and move along the rope with the user. The edge protection mat is a generally rectangular sheet with loops on each corner, but not limited to the corners, to secure the sheet in place against a building or other structure. The edge protection mat is a multi-layer sheet with a high loft layer to decrease the bend radius of the rope across a ledge. Both the rope protection mat and the edge protection mat include visual safety indicators.

A rope is described including a first terminus, a first end, and a bulk portion. The first end portion consists of a predetermined length of the rope from the first terminus, and the bulk portion is connected to the first end portion. At least one of an external coloring and an external patterning of the first end portion is different from that of the bulk portion. The marked end of the rope allows a climber or other user to easily recognize that he or she is nearing the end of the rope.
