METHOD OF MANUFACTURING TEXTILES WITH INTEGRATED ELECTRICAL PATHS AND ELECTRONICS
Methods for manufacturing a textile article having conductive yarn and an integrated electronic device are disclosed. An embodiment of the method includes receiving computer-readable instruction indicative of a knitting pattern of the textile article. Based on the instructions, a textile is formed by knitting conductive yarn and non-conductive yarn. A weld is applied at a junction where two or more conductive paths meet to create a bond between the two or more conductive paths.
Fabric Seam with Electrical Components
One or more electrical components may be incorporated into a fabric seam. The fabric seam may join two pieces of material in a fabric item or may form the border of a fabric item. The fabric seam may include first and second fabric portions with one or more conductive strands extending between the first and second fabric portions. An electrical component may be coupled to the conductive strand. The fabric seam may have one or more side pockets for capturing the edge of a material such as a piece of fabric. The fabric seam may have gaps that allow conductive strands within the fabric seam to branch off in different directions. Openings may be incorporated in the fabric seam to allow air or light to pass through and/or to form a window for an electrical component in the fabric seam.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A KNITTED FABRIC COMPRISING A VERTICAL YARN FILAMENT
A method for manufacturing a knitted fabric embodying a basic knit, into which at least one functional yarn filament, such as an electrically conductive yarn filament, is incorporated as a vertical yarn filament (F3). The basic knit is formed from a first and a second yarn (F1, F2) using a plaiting technique. The vertical yarn filament (F3) is incorporated by a third yarn carrier (FF3) positioned, on a third yarn carrier rail located between respective yarn carrier rails for the first and the second yarn carriers (FF1, FF2), at a location at which the vertical yarn filament (F3) is to be incorporated. During formation of a sequence of stitch rows (MR1-MR7) using the first and second yarns (F1, F2), the first yarn (F1) is guided over the vertical yarn filament (F3) on a front side of the knitted fabric and the second yarn (F2) is guided over the vertical yarn filament (F3) on a back side of the knitted fabric.
Fabric-Based Items With Stretchable Bands
A fabric-based item may be provided with a stretchable band. The stretchable band may be formed from a ring-shaped strip of stretchable fabric having an opening configured to fit around a body part of a user. Circuitry may be coupled to strands of material in the stretchable band. The circuitry may include sensor circuitry for making measurements on the body part such as electrocardiogram measurements, blood pressure measurements, and respiration rate measurements. Wireless communications circuitry in the fabric-based item may be used to communicate wirelessly with external electronic equipment. A wireless power transmitting device may transmit wireless power. A coil formed from conductive strands in the fabric-based item may be used by wireless power receiving circuitry in the fabric-based item to receive the wireless power. The coil may have one or more turns that run around the ring-shaped strip of stretchable fabric.
Textile fabric implementing a capacitive grid
It is disclosed a textile fabric comprising a first set of electrically conductive and externally isolated yarns (22) separated by isolating textile yarns (24); a second set of non-isolated conductive yarns (23); a plurality of textile yarns interlacing the first and the second set of yarns (22, 23), wherein part of the interlacing textile yarns are non-isolated conductive yarns (23) in order to form an electrical grounding grid with the non-isolated conductive yarns (23) of the second set of yarns and part of the interlacing textile yarns are isolating textile yarns (24).
Color-changing fabric having printed pattern
A color-changing product includes a fabric. The fabric includes a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is arranged using at least one fiber. The at least one fiber includes (a) an electrically conductive core and (b) a coating disposed around and along the electrically conductive core. The second layer is printed onto the first layer. The second layer includes a foreground thermochromic pigment that is selectively activatable by providing an electrical current to the electrically conductive core of the at least one fiber to change at least one of a foreground color or a pattern of the second layer.
Footwear having therapeutic light source
An article of footwear is configured to be worn so as to at least partially cover a wearer's foot. The footwear includes at least one optical fiber on an internal surface of the footwear. The at least one optical fiber is configured to project radiation having a therapeutic wavelength through the at least one optical fiber and toward at least one of the wearer's foot, ankle or leg when the footwear is being worn so as to at least partially cover the wearer's foot.
INTERACTIVE TEXTILE AND METHOD OF FORMING THE SAME
An interactive textile configured to provide a haptic feedback in response to an activating signal. The interactive textile includes a fabric; an electroactive layer disposed on the fabric, the electroactive layer having a first main side and a second main side; a first electrode disposed between the first main side of the electroactive layer and the fabric; and a second electrode disposed on the second main side of the electroactive layer. A method of forming an interactive textile configured to provide a haptic feedback in response to an activating signal is also provided.
Fabric With Embedded Electrical Components
Electrical components may have plastic packages. Contacts may be formed on exterior surfaces of the plastic packages. A plastic package for an electrical component may have an elongated shape that extends along a longitudinal axis. A first groove may run parallel to the longitudinal axis on a lower surface of the plastic package. A second groove may run perpendicular to the first groove on an opposing upper surface of the plastic package. The electrical components may be coupled to fibers in a fabric such as a woven fabric. A first solder connection may be formed between the first groove and a first fiber such as a weft fiber.
