Method for forming a mesh having a barbed suture attached thereto and the mesh thus obtained
11696819 · 2023-07-11 · ·

The invention relates to a method for forming a mesh having a barbed suture attached thereto, comprising the following steps: a) producing a knitted structure on a knitting machine comprising at least one needle-bed with three guide bars, on a length corresponding to N stitches ranging from 1 to N, wherein i) a first knit portion is produced along stitches ranging from 1 to x, where 1<x<N, ii) a second knit portion is produced for stitches ranging from (x+1) to N, in which the knitting pattern produces at least one weft stitched chain stitch, b) cutting the second knit portion on both sides of the weft stitched chain stitch and along an edge separating the second knit portion from the first knit portion, while maintaining the weft stitched chain stitch attached to the first knit portion. The invention also relates to the mesh obtained by this method.

TECHNOLOGIES FOR FIBER NANOTECHNOLOGY

Technologies for fibers with nanotechnology is disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, a preform is 3D printed with one or more sacrificial cores and one or more hollow channels. The preform is drawn into a fiber, and one or more metal core(s) is inserted into the hollow channel during the fiber draw. The fiber is then heated, breaking up the sacrificial cores into balls through capillary action. The fiber can be etched, exposing the balls made up of the sacrificial cores. The balls can be selectively etched, exposing the metal core(s) of the fiber. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Woven or braided tubular metal construct

Multi-filament microcables are used in place of the traditional monofilament wires as the constituent elements of a woven or braided band. This enhances the function and manufacturability of such bands for various applications, such as orthopaedic applications including sternotomy closures.

Suture Device

A suture device comprises at least one weft strand interwoven with a plurality of warp strands to define a body region. The body region has a substantially open mesh construction and at least a first elongate end region axially extending from and being one part with the body region having a substantially closed mesh construction. The width of the end region is substantially less than a width of the body region.

Braided filament with particularized strand compositions and methods of manufacturing and using same

In one embodiment, the present invention is a braided filament including a plurality of strands each having at least one ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene fiber and at least one polyester fiber wherein the quantity of certain types of fibers in a first strand is the same as the quantity of the same type of fibers in a second strand. In a variant, one additional strand of the braided filament is a monofilament strand. In another variant, each strand is homogeneous with respect to the other strands and is made exclusively from ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene fibers and polyester fibers such that each strand has the same distribution and quantity of fiber types.

SURGICAL SUTURE HAVING EXCELLENT BIOCOMPATIBILITY AND LOW FRICTION, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME

The present invention relates to a surgical suture having excellent biocompatibility and low friction, and to a method for manufacturing same. The suture according to the present invention has excellent biocompatibility and low friction, thereby reducing pain that may occur in a patient during suturing and minimizing the occurrence of inflammation in cells at a suture site, and also has excellent contact properties with cells, thereby capable of being used for various medical and surgical operations.
