A STYRENE BUTADIENE POLYMER LATEX AND ITS APPLICATION THEREOF
The present invention is related to a carboxylated styrene butadiene polymer latex, a method for making such and its application as binders for paper coating. In particular, the latex shows excellent wet rub performance and peel off performance. The latex may find applications as binders for paper coating.
WATER-RESISTANT MULTILAYERED CELLULOSE-BASED SUBSTRATE
The present invention relates to a multilayered cellulose-based substrate, comprising a cellulose-based first layer, and a cellulose-based second layer in contact with said first layer, wherein said substrate has a basis weight above 85 g/m.sup.2, wherein said first layer comprises an internal sizing agent, and wherein said second layer has been subjected to grafting with a fatty acid halide through the entire thickness of said second layer. The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing the multilayered cellulose-based substrate.
COATED PAPER
The present invention relates to a coated paper comprising a base paper and a barrier layer applied thereto, the barrier layer comprising at least one polymer, the polymer comprising an at least partly saponified polyvinyl alcohol and/or an at least partly saponified polyvinyl alcohol copolymer, each of which has an onset temperature of less than 210° C. determined by DSC.
Heat sealable barrier coating
The present invention provides a heat-sealable water-based coating composition suitable for coating substrates used for packaging of products that contain grease, oil, water, etc. The coating compositions comprise acrylic polymer or copolymer emulsions and melting waxes. The substrates may be formed into containers, such as cups, for example. The coatings provide a barrier that is resistant to the permeation of, for example, grease, oil, water, and other liquids. Furthermore, the coating compositions are compostable.

CREPED SINGLE PLY TISSUE
Disclosed are tissue products comprising a single ply tissue web that has been prepared by a creping process and more preferably by a print creping process adapted to dispose a non-crosslinked latex polymer on at least one of the outer surfaces of the tissue web. The creped single ply tissue products generally have a low degree of stiffness, such as a Stiffness Index less than about 8.00, and are highly durable, such as a Durability Index greater than about 12.0. In other instances, the tissue products may have very low levels of lint or dust, such as a Slough less than about 4.00 mg, even at basis weights from about 45 to about 55 grams per square meter (gsm) and tensile strengths from 600 to 1,200 g/3″.
Grafted polyvinyl alcohol polymer, formulations containing the same, and creping methods
A grafted polyvinyl alcohol polymer includes a polyvinyl alcohol main chain and a plurality of side chains grafted to the polyvinyl alcohol main chain. One or more of the side chains from the plurality of side chains include one or more units selected from: an aliphatic carboxylic acid, an aliphatic amide, an amino alkyl (meth)acrylate, a hydroxylated alkyl (meth)acrylate, or any combinations thereof. The grafted polyvinyl alcohol polymer can be included in a formulation that also includes water, and the formulation can be used as an adhesive in a creping process.
Heat Sealable Paper-Based Substrate Coated with Water-Based Coatings, Its Process of Manufacturing and Uses Thereof
A heat sealable paper-based substrate is provided with at least the first surface covered with at least one primer coat and at least one topcoat over the primer coat, wherein: the primer coat is formed from a substantially wax-free aqueous dispersion of at least one polymer or copolymer, has a coefficient of thermal expansion equal to or less than about 200 μm/(m.Math.° C.) for at least one operating temperature, and has a complex viscosity of at least about 80000 poises at a heat seal temperature; the topcoat has a different composition than the primer coat and is formed from an aqueous dispersion of at least one thermoplastic polymer or copolymer, and has a complex viscosity of at least about 3000 poises at a heat seal temperature. The heat sealable paper-based substrate can be used to make articles to contain goods such as cold or hot beverages or food products.
