The present invention relates to a refined cellulose fiber composition useful as a strength enhancing agent for paper and paperboard, wherein the refined cellulose fiber composition has a Schopper-Riegler (SR) number in the range of 80-98 as determined by standard ISO 5267-1, and wherein the refined cellulose fiber composition has a content of fibers having a length >0.2 mm of at least 12 million fibers per gram based on dry weight. The invention further relates to a method for preparing the refined cellulose fiber composition and to pulp paper and paperboard comprising the refined cellulose fiber composition.

Method for production of filler loaded surface enhanced pulp fibers

The present invention relates to a method for preparing loaded paper pulp for use in the manufacture of paper or paper board. At least one process stream containing a plurality of unrefined pulp fibers and at least one process stream of at least one filler are combined in a refiner to form a loaded paper pulp composition having a plurality of surface enhanced pulp fibers that are loaded with particles of the at least one filler.

METHOD AND MACHINE FOR PRODUCING A FIBROUS WEB WHICH CAN BE ELONGATED IN THE TRANSVERSE DIRECTION
20230103146 · 2023-03-30 · ·

A method for producing a web of fibrous material includes the steps of: bringing the web into contact with a heated cylinder, the web being able to be elongated in a transverse direction; guiding the web, together with an elastic belt, over the heated cylinder, the web being between the elastic belt and a cylinder surface; pressing the web against the heated cylinder by the elastic belt; subjecting the elastic belt to a pre-tensioning—which is at least one of variably adjustable and controllable—in the transverse direction before being brought into contact with the web; and relieving the pre-tensioning of the elastic belt generated in the transverse direction again after formation of a steam cushion between the web and the heated cylinder, such that the web is shrunk with the elastic belt in the transverse direction in a sliding manner over the steam cushion on the heated cylinder.

SOFT TREATED TISSUE PRODUCT

The present invention provides multi-ply creped tissue products, and in particular embodiments creped wet-pressed tissue products, having substantially higher per-ply basis weights, such as from about 14.0 grams per square meter or greater. Despite having relatively high per-ply basis weights, the products are generally soft and flexible, such as having a softness value (measured as TS7) less than about 10.0 and a Stiffness Index less than about 20.0. While being soft and flexible, the tissue products are durable enough to withstand use, such as having a geometric mean tensile (GMT) greater than about 1,000 g/3″.

Paper Products Incorporating Surface Enhanced Pulp Fibers and Having Decoupled Wet and Dry Strengths and Methods of Making the Same

A method of making a paper product can comprise making one or more sheets at least by, for each of the sheet(s), forming a web from one or more furnishes that comprise fibers dispersed in water. The fibers of the furnish(es) can comprise a plurality of first fibers that are hardwood fibers and a plurality of second fibers that include softwood fibers and surface enhanced pulp fibers (SEPF), the SEPF having a length weighted average fiber length of at least 0.20 mm. The method can comprise at least partially dewatering the web to form the sheet. The sheet(s) can be laminated and/or embossed such that a total dry tensile strength of the paper product is less than or equal to 90% of the sum of the total dry tensile strength(s) of the sheet(s).

BARRIER PAPER, CONTAINER AND LID MEMBER CONTAINING SAID BARRIER PAPER, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING BARRIER PAPER

Provided is barrier paper excellent in gas barrier properties, with respect to barrier paper including a paper substrate layer.

Barrier paper comprising a paper substrate layer, an adhesive layer, and an inorganic vapor-deposited layer in this order, the adhesive layer being in contact with the inorganic vapor-deposited layer. In the barrier paper, when the arithmetic average roughness of the surface of the inorganic vapor-deposited layer on the side opposite to the paper substrate layer is defined as Ra1, and the standard deviation of the Ra1 is defined as σRa1, σRa1 is preferably 0.030 μm or less.

System and method for producing a facing for a board product with strategically placed scores
11465385 · 2022-10-11 · ·

A system and method for producing a board product made from paper products that have a pre-scored facing in addition to a medium (sometimes called fluting). Conventional corrugated board may feature a cross-corrugated medium and one or more facing that have no score lines that are impressed (at least prior to assembly with the corrugated medium). Such a conventional board product may be inferior because any score lines that are impressed will damage the underlying corrugated medium in some manner. A breakdown in the strength of the underlying medium leads to poor precision when the eventual board product is scored, cut, and folded. A lack of precision in folding a board product leads to gap variation and fishtailing as any articulated portion of the board product may not maintain a precise plane of articulation when folded.

Multi-ply fibrous structure-containing articles

Articles, for example multi-ply fibrous structure-containing articles such as multi-ply sanitary tissue products, containing two or more fibrous structure plies, and more particularly to multi-ply articles containing two or more fibrous structure plies having a plurality of fibrous elements wherein the articles exhibit improved bulk and absorbent properties compared to known articles and methods for making same, are provided.
