Apparatus for detecting irregularities in airfield markings
A gauge for verifying that an airfield's runway and taxiway markings are a specific size. It is a complete reference tool for assessing markings manually by a technician; that is a tool to help reduce the subjectivity of the assessment by the technician. The gauge is flexible and can be rolled or folded for transport. In order to make the gauge easier to use, the measurements are made using very specifically placed and sized slots that conform to ideal airfield markings. Graduation markings at the end of the slots help the technician determine the size of marking discrepancies.
Methods and apparatus for mobile additive manufacturing of advanced roadway systems
The present disclosure provides various aspects for mobile and automated processing utilizing additive manufacturing. The present disclosure includes methods for adding line features to a roadway surface. In some examples, the line features may include wires, conduits and electronic components. In some examples, the mobile additive manufacturing apparatus may create communication means into an advanced roadway in line features, which may be used for various communications including communications to and from autonomous vehicles. The communications may involve data related to the operation of systems of autonomous vehicles. In other examples, the line features may be dynamically colored with LED components.
OBJECT LOCATION USING OFFSET
An apparatus for locating an object of interest using offset. The object may be a mobile platform, or portion of same, associated with a vehicle, or a pavement segment or feature of or on a pavement segment on which the mobile platform is located. The vehicle includes first and second fixed points having a known offset from each other. An image sensor whose field of view includes the second fixed point and a segment of the pavement surface provides image data which is used with the known offset to calculate the precise location of the object of interest.

It is suggested to provide a line marking device having a GNSS receiver or prism for a robotic total station. The line marking device further has at least one spray nozzle and a comparator adapted to compare a detected location to a predetermined pattern. The comparator calculates a location and/or a direction error. Further the line marking device has a prompting device for providing steering information to a user. The provided information is the location and/or direction error. The at least one spray nozzle and the GNSS receiver or the prism are in a fixed spatial relation to a connecting element, which is connected or connectable to an unmovable receiving element of a cart.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO APPLY SURFACE TREATMENTS
An example method includes storing surface treatment data to specify at least one selected surface treatment to apply at a target location along a vehicle path of travel, the surface treatment data including a machine-readable description and a reference coordinate frame for the selected surface treatment. The method also includes generating task plan data to apply the selected surface treatment based on the surface treatment data and at least one parameter of an application tool. The method also includes determining a location and orientation of the application tool with respect to the vehicle path of travel based on location data representing a current location of a vehicle carrying the application tool. The method also includes computing a joint-space trajectory to enable the application tool to apply the selected surface treatment at the target location based on the task plan data and the determined location of the application tool.
Roadway maintenance striping control system
A control system for positioning a marker over a pre-existing roadway surface mark. The control system has an electromagnetic radiation source attached to the marker for producing a mark pattern on the roadway surface. An imager permits the control system to image both the pre-existing roadway surface mark and the mark pattern produced by the electromagnetic radiation source. A computer is responsive to the imager for producing an error signal based upon the location difference between (a) the image of the pre-existing roadway surface mark and (b) the image of the mark pattern produced by the electromagnetic radiation source. An actuator is responsive to the error signal for positioning the marker over the pre-existing.

A line scribing method of a line scriber includes the steps of providing an electronic map; planning a line scribing path on the electronic map; converting the planned line scribing path into a plurality of planned geographical coordinates; transmitting the planned geographical coordinates to a line scriber; positioning a location to be scribed by the line scriber via a satellite connection to generate a positioning coordinate; comparing the positioning coordinate with an starting geographical coordinate of the planned geographical coordinates, and correcting the planned geographical coordinates according to the difference between the positioning coordinate and the starting geographical coordinate if the positioning coordinate is unequal to the starting coordinate, or moving the line scriber according to the planned geographical coordinates sequentially to perform a line scribing operation if the positioning coordinate is equal to the starting coordinate, so that the line scriber can perform a line scribing operation accurately.
Enhanced roadway mark locator, inspection apparatus, and marker
An apparatus for locating, inspecting, or placing marks on a roadway. The apparatus includes a GPS-based machine vision locator for sampling discrete geographical location data of a pre-existing roadway mark evident on the roadway. A computer may determine a continuous smooth geographical location function fitted to the sampled geographical location data. A marker is responsive to the GPS-based locator and geographical location function for replicating automatically the pre-existing roadway mark onto the roadway. The apparatus is typically part of a moving vehicle. A related method is disclosed for locating, inspecting, and placing marks on a resurfaced roadway. A similar apparatus can be used to guide a vehicle having a snow plow along a snow-covered roadway, or a paving machine along an unpaved roadway surface. The apparatus provides for accurate determination of roadway mark locations, roadway mark inspection apparatus and roadway markers using Bayesian model-based filtered enhanced GPS geographical location data.
MACHINE LEARNING BASED ROADWAY STRIPING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A system for striping a roadway marking onto roadway surface either for rehabilitating the current roadway marking or duplicating a previously recorded roadway marking with a computer having a machine learning program to process the roadway marking image and position the marker at the desired roadway marking location.
