A painting assembly for a distance measuring wheel includes: a main body; a connecting device disposed on the main body and configured to connect the paining assembly to an arm member of the distance measuring wheel; a paint can fixing device disposed on the main body and configured to fix a paint can installed to the painting assembly; a communication device configured to receive a control signal for controlling a driving device; and the driving device connected to the main body and configured to: in response to the control signal, control a paint spraying state of the paint can.

A device and method for marking indicia on terrestrial surfaces implemented in topographical surveying comprises is described; the device includes: a support element connectable to topographic surveying instrument, a container holder and paint container; an actuator; at least one nozzle configured to reversibly assume: a divergent configuration and convergent configuration; at least one driving mechanism, for driving the nozzle between the divergent configuration and convergent configurations and an outlet to dispense the paint on the terrestrial surface; the method includes: selecting a point of interest on a terrestrial surface; positioning the pointed tip; determining geographical coordinates; activating the actuator, dispensing the paint form the outlet; altering the configuration of the nozzle between the divergent and convergent configuration.

A correctional paint wand used to mark lines on pavement, turf, concrete, and other surfaces. It has a rotatable sleeve on the lower end of an elongated handle, with the sleeve having at least two aerosol paint can holders each sized for containing one inverted paint can. At least one can applies distinguishable marking paint, and at least one can applies correctional paint visually covering erroneously applied markings, with the sleeve rotated to place the needed paint can in a dispensing position. A wheel on the lower end of the wand may aid its movement over the surface targeted for marking. The error correcting paint may be green for grass or artificial turf, brown for exposed ground, light gray or off-white for cement, and black for asphalt, or other colors appropriate to the intended application. Contemplated applications include, but are not limited to, use by landscaping designers and utility companies.

A device that can hold at least two cans of spray paint or chalk, thus enabling marking with different colors using a single device. The device comprises a staff, a can holster, a grip, a trigger and a selector. The selector comprises a selector rod moveable in or alongside the staff. At one end of the selector rod is a selector knob and at the other is an engagement mechanism that engages the spray valve of each can, one can at a time. The engagement mechanism comprises a cam and a rocker arm with two opposing fingers, one to engage each spray can when selected. Optionally one or more flag holders may be attached to the staff for holding marker flags.

A tool for marking the location of a bonding plate concealed beneath a roof membrane. The tool has a magnetic attraction to the bonding plate and causes a marking assembly to vertically lower toward the roof membrane and rotate on an axle. Rotation of the marking assembly and vertical lowering causes the marking implement to come into contact with the roof membrane at a location corresponding to the location of the bonding plate beneath the roof membrane. A brake restricts the rotation of the marking assembly on the axle by coming into contact with an inner edge of a chassis. Contact between the marking implement and the roof membrane and the restriction of rotation of the marking assembly by the brake cause the marking implement to create a visible mark at a position corresponding to the location of the bonding plate beneath the roof membrane.

Location systems and methods for locating paint and other markings on a surface are described. More specifically, but not exclusively, the disclosure relates to smart paint stick devices and methods of use in locating and marking buried utility lines or other buried objects. One system for locating a buried object may include a buried object locator and a paint stick. The locator may include a tracking component configured to detect a location of a buried object. The paint stick may be configured to cause a paint container to dispense paint at a first position associated with the location of the buried object. The paint stick may include a position determination component configured to transmit one or more range vector signals that are detected by the tracking component. Sensors may be used to determine when paint is dispensed from a paint container, and to determine a color of the paint or a type of a marking.

A road marker system for dispensing a plurality of markings at a uniform distance on a road. wherein the road marker system comprises a frame. wherein, the frame is configured to attach a spraying assembly to a vehicle and position the spraying assembly at a visible distance from a vehicle driver. A chain assembly comprises a plurality of sprocket wheels with a chain wrapped circulating around the plurality of sprocket wheels. A circulating striker assembly is attached to an exterior portion of the chain. wherein, the circulating striker assembly is configured to circulate around the chain as the chain circulates around the plurality of sprocket wheels. The road marker system further comprises a valve nozzle release having a paint bottle.

A method of spraying paint using a painting assembly attached to a distance measuring wheel includes: receiving, by a communication device of the painting assembly, a control signal for controlling a driving device of the painting assembly; and based on the control signal, controlling a paint spraying state of a paint can attached to a paint can fixing device.

A real-time measurement and marking apparatus is provided. The disclosure providing a portable marking device comprising: a housing including a main housing structure and a can cover, the main housing structure having a front open end, a rear nozzle end, a top surface, a bottom surface, and a pair of opposing side walls, wherein at least one of the side walls defines an aperture, the can cover having a rear open end, a front closed end, the can cover extending at the rear open end to selectively engage with the aperture defined by at least one of the side walls releasably securing a spray can within the housing; a nozzle member positioned at the rear nozzle end of the of the main housing structure; an optical measuring apparatus for real-time measuring of a distance between a point of focus and the portable marking device activated by one or more buttons.
